About us
Mission: A Global Voice for Autism equips conflict-affected communities with the skills to support their children with autism and other developmental disabilities in classrooms, homes and communities. A Global Voice for Autism's unique approach to autism support is community responsive and person-centered. We offer both intellectual and emotional capacity-building support to the communities we serve to ensure that caregivers have both the knowledge and psychological capacities to support children in their communities. In order to achieve this, we offer: 1) Interactive parent and teacher training in evidence-based practices for classroom based and 1:1 inclusive education and autism support. 2) Peer Support and Self Development groups for parents, siblings and teachers that teach self-care skills, cultivate safe spaces for discussion and experience sharing and develop confidence and resilience. 3) Community education initiatives to address autism stigma and improve community awareness. 4) Coached community outings for families to teach skills for community-based behavior management. 5) Virtual consulting support for past training participants and for families in hard-to-reach high-conflict communities. Our programs have been implemented in the following communities: -Jenin, Palestine -Ramallah, Palestine -Mersin, Turkey (Syrian and Iraqi refugees) -Silwad, Palestine -Minneapolis, Minnesota (Somali refugees) We have also offered workshops in the following communities: -Irbid, Jordan -Algiers, Algeria -Athens, Greece

The Autism CARES Act of 2024 has just passed the Senate HELP Committee on July 31. This is a significant milestone for the autism community, and we are incredibly grateful that the bill includes several important enhancements that Autism Speaks has advocated for. This Act will continue to support vital autism research and training programs that are crucial for our community. A huge thank you to Sen. Luján and Sen. Collins for their leadership in introducing the bill. Your dedication to advancing this cause is truly appreciated. While we celebrate today’s achievement, our work is not done. The bill still needs to be passed in both the House and Senate before the law expires at the end of September. We need your support! Please join us in asking your Senators and Representatives to support the Autism CARES Act of 2024 and encourage them to work together to pass this bill swiftly. The Autism CARES Act is the most important bill when it comes to federal investment in autism research, training, and data efforts. Today's progress in advancing the bill through the Senate HELP Committee with overwhelming bipartisan support highlights the national significance of this historic legislation. The enhancements included in the bill will help to further advance progress in addressing gaps in access to health care, services, and supports that too many autistic people face. We look forward to seeing the House and Senate work collaboratively to ensure the Autism CARES Act is reauthorized before the September 30 deadline. Let's make our voices heard and ensure that this critical legislation becomes law!

“Alone, we can do so little; together, we can do so much” – Helen Keller A Global Voice for Autism is building a new community to help countless communities in need. These communities are families who have been critically underserved; they are the marginalized, the displaced. Many have suffered unspeakable loss and trauma but they still have hope. Hope for their future and that of their children’s. Hope of giving their child with autism a better, safer and more equitable future. In times of crises, their needs are often overlooked and statistically, these families endure greater hardships and loss. We can change this narrative together. We can build brighter futures for these children and their families. As we celebrate Autism Awareness AND Acceptance Month, let’s come together to create meaningful and lasting change. Please join us in Washington DC on April 25th or in New York City on April 30th to learn more about our exciting new training initiatives and how you can become a part of this community. “Giving” comes in many forms besides financial - it comes in giving one’s time, being of service, spreading the word or making an introduction. They are all meaningful steps in creating change. So if any of these speak to you, please consider joining us at one of our events to learn more.
