A non-partisan, non-profit working to improve public education for every Alabama student.
About us
A+ is the driver of real improvement for public education in Alabama. We are a non-profit, non-partisan organization that works to improve education for every Alabama student by advocating for policies and investments that advance learning and by partnering with schools to build capacity of teachers and leaders. A+partners with elected and appointed officials, state agencies, organizations, and individuals to shape education policy/spending and develops the potential of educators, principals, and superintendents through our two direct service programs: the Alabama Best Practices Center, which connects and equips educators and school leaders with proven resources and best practices, and A+ College Ready, which works with high schools and middle schools to increase access and success in Advanced Placement (AP) courses - a proven indicator of college and career readiness. Our goals are to improve graduation rates and ensure that graduates possess the knowledge and skills to succeed, to close achievement gaps, and to lift the performance of all Alabama students so that they are prepared to succeed in post-secondary education, the workforce, and life. We accomplish these goals by shaping policy, by working with districts, schools, and educators, and by promoting investments in proven practices statewide. A+ promotes what works: quality, state-funded Pre-K, professional development for teachers and school leaders, high academic standards that prepare our children to be competitive, support for students, and innovation. In order to help each child graduate and to graduate prepared, we work in partnership with educators, business groups, key policy makers and other organizations that share our commitment to students first and to investing public dollars wisely.
