About us
A Step Up Academy is a private, not-for-profit school for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder from Preschool through 8th grade. “A Step Up Academy prepares students to become engaged participants in society by developing innovative academic, social, emotional, and behavioral programming as well as impactful community partnerships.” Grounded in evidence-based practices with a focus on targeting the fundamental areas of communication, we work with students, families, school districts and communities to place children back into a fully inclusive environment. Our focus is to serve the growing population of young children on the autism spectrum that have significant developmental delays, speech and language difficulties, and moderate behaviors that are associated with the diagnosis. We serve children in preschool through fourth grade. A Step Up Academy targets cognitive, academic, social, sensory, and motor development, as well as adaptive and problem behaviors that interfere with learning. We offer in-house speech & language and occupational therapies.

Pletly and NewCourtland are proud to announce Jeanine and Marius Mathisen, co-founders of Pletly, as speakers at EmpathyTech Philadelphia! 🎤 As caregivers and advocates, Jeanine (CMO) and Marius (CEO) lead Pletly in its mission to create meaningful connections in caregiving, bridging technology and human empathy. 💻❤️ In their fireside chat, Jeanine and Marius will share how their caregiving experiences inspired Pletly’s mission to enhance support for families and care professionals. From an idea born at their kitchen table in Norway 🇳🇴, Pletly has grown into an impact-driven company dedicated to creating tools that foster connection, transparency, and collaboration within caregiving communities. 🗓️ Join the waiting list for tickets: https://lnkd.in/dPZqh2ac 👤 Marius Mathisen, co-founder and CEO of Pletly, holds a degree in Information Systems and IT Management from the University of South-Eastern Norway. After gaining experience at KPMG and Crayon Group, Marius dove into the Norwegian startup scene, where he led multiple IT teams, driving innovation with limited resources and an adaptable approach. His background as a martial artist who competed and trained internationally brings a disciplined, tenacious mindset to his work in health tech. Growing up in a healthcare family, Marius has come full circle, now advocating for health equity and the need for supportive technology for underserved communities. 👤 Jeanine Mathisen, co-founder and CMO of Pletly, went from a professional athletic career to becoming a family caregiver and mother at the young age of 18. Using her creativity and resourcefulness, she balanced caregiving with work as a cake decorator, eventually earning a degree in graphic design to build a flexible career. In addition to her role at Pletly, Jeanine is a youth sports advocate, coaching two handball teams and serving as the sports director for her local club. She is passionate about empowering young girls, helping them build confidence as they approach adulthood. 🤝 Support our initiative by becoming a sponsor or making a donation: https://lnkd.in/ekYyCPfX
