76Place: Pioneering Equitable Development in Philadelphia In a powerful Philadelphia Tribune op-ed, Regina A. Hairston, President & CEO of the African American Chamber of Commerce for PA, NJ & DE (AACC), highlights how the recent approval of 76Place by Philadelphia City Council’s Committee of the Whole sets a new standard for Black economic opportunity. 76Place represents a groundbreaking collaboration between the AACC and the 76ers to ensure meaningful inclusion of Black-owned businesses, professionals, and workers. This partnership established a robust, actionable Economic Opportunity Plan (EOP), guaranteeing Black businesses and professionals opportunities in design, construction, and operations. By addressing systemic challenges like access to capital and enforceability of commitments, the 76ers have invested $2 million into capacity-building initiatives through the AACC, setting a benchmark for other developments nationwide. “This is more than just a project,” Hairston asserts. “It’s a new way of doing business in Philadelphia—one that ensures Black-owned businesses are positioned to succeed and thrive.” https://lnkd.in/ecsdBbT9 Support Black-owned businesses and institutions by joining the African American Chamber of Commerce for PA, NJ & DE.
