About us
The Association of Asian Pacific Community Health Organizations (AAPCHO) is a national organization advocating for medically underserved Asian Americans (AAs), Native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders (NHPIs) and the community health providers that serve them. We work in conjunction with our members and partners to offer programs and services that promote advocacy, collaboration, and leadership to improve the health of AAs and NHPIs. AAPCHO advocates for the unique and diverse health needs of AA and NHPI communities through: • ADVOCACY: Serving as a unified voice of our membership, we share our collective knowledge and experience with policymakers to advocate for the continued support and growth of health centers that ensure AAs and NHPIs have better access to affordable, high quality, and culturally and linguistically appropriate health care. • RESEARCH AND DATA: We conduct research to advance the medical knowledge and increase the health care data on AA and NHPI communities. • CAPACITY BUILDING: We provide training and technical assistance to health centers and partners to support excellence in care delivery.

There are about 1.5M people in the U.S. who identify as Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander (NH/PI) alone or in combination with another race or ethnicity, but their experiences are often missing from analyses or conflated with Asian American adults. To help address gaps in data and information on NH/PI people’s experiences, KFF conducted seven virtual focus groups between June-August 2024 to learn about NH/PI peoples’ experiences with racism, discrimination, and health. The National Association of Pasifika Organizations, Papa Ola Lōkahi, and AAPCHO's Pacific Islander Center of Primary Care Excellence contributed to the resulting reports.
