About us
The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD) is the nation’s premier organization of physicians, scientists, researchers, medical students, and healthcare professionals to study, prevent, and cure liver diseases. AASLD was founded in 1950 by a group of leading liver specialists to advance the field of hepatology. The mission of AASLD is to advance and disseminate the science and practice of hepatology and to promote improved liver health and quality patient care. AASLD has more than 7,000 + members who work in hepatology and related areas. AASLD advances the study and treatment of liver diseases in these diverse ways: · The Liver Meeting, AASLD’s annual meeting that features interactive sessions on the latest breakthroughs, advancements, and research in liver health, education workshops, and exhibits featuring state-of-the-art technologies, pharmaceutical developments, and medical devices. · Practice guidelines developed by a multidisciplinary panel of experts to share recommended approaches to the diagnosis, therapeutic, and preventive aspects of care along with quality measures to help its members measure healthcare processes and outcomes. · Journals that feature the latest research, review, practice guidelines and more on liver disease. These include Hepatology, the premier publication in the field of liver disease; Clinical Liver Disease, a free access multimedia review journal; and Hepatology Communications, a peer-reviewed, online, and open access journal. · Clinical resources for hepatologists and other clinicians. · Courses for clinicians and other healthcare professionals. · Tools to help professionals communicate effectively with patients. · The Cirrhosis Quality Collaborative, a multi-site learning health network that combines quality improvement and research to improve the care and treatment of patients with cirrhosis.
