This week we have some photos of our fellow Pennsylvanians at Nexterra Subterranean! These guys brought one of their Acker XLS drills out on the water for a little fun in the sun. The XLS is an Acker classic that jump-started our modern line-up of Hydraulic Drill Rigs. It is always good to see these rigs out in the action on the job site! This job was located at the Memorial Lake Dam near Fort Indiantown Gap in Annville PA, for Geotechnical Investigation of the spillway for reconstruction. This job included HQ coring, well installation, and camera scoping of the holes in their 4” casing to see the structure. Way to go Nexterra! We appreciate the opportunity to share these photos! Turn N’ Burn (TRC) Tuesday – This week, we have our good friends at TRC Companies Inc with their Acker-XLS’ getting after it on land and sea! Their fleet of Acker XLS drills have been getting work done all over the country for over 20 years! This selection photos features some work on a barge as well as the hillsides along the river. They were kind enough to share some details on their work for us, too: They drilled a total of 12 borings ranging from 160’ to 400’ in water depths as shallow as 2’ of water and as deep as 15’ of water. Overburden was as shallow as 5’ on Pittston side of river and as deep as 115’ on the West Pittston side of the river, they did about 4000’ in total of soil sampling and rock coring on the water. The XLS pictured on land has been drilling 115’ glacial overburden and then coring anywhere from 100’ to 300’ of rock as well. Awesome work guys! Very happy to see these machines still doing well for you. Turn N’ Burn Tuesday – XLS Action! This week, we’re happy to feature long time customer, Pennsylvania Drilling’s Soil-XLS. They provided us with some great photos of their yellow XLS on an array of job sites. Many of you know the Soil-XLS as one of the classic Acker drilling rigs of 2000s. It helped usher in our focus on powerful, multi-purpose hydraulic drilling rigs on a rugged track system. The XLS could be found in fleets around the country by the dozens. This XLS has been doing work for Pennsylvania Drilling for quite a while, in all types of conditions. Rain or shine, sun or snow, or even barges, this XLS has been doing it all and we’re happy to see it still running well for them! We’re always happy to see our rigs of all ages doing well and the XLS is no exception, special thanks to Pennsylvania Drilling for providing these awesome shots! Turn N’ Burn Tuesday – Shipping Day! Another week, another rig leaving the shop! Today we said So Long and Good Luck to this truck-mounted R.A.D. Now we know what you’re thinking, “isn’t the R.A.D. the rig that is supposed to go through doors?” You’d normally be correct. HOWEVER, the R.A.D. packs a punch for its size with over 3000lbs of torque and 750rpms along with capabilities of 11’ of stroke, which is just what this customer needed. They provided us with a truck from their fleet and we did the rest! Giving them the best the R.A.D. has to offer, mounted perfectly on the back of this Ford F-550. With a custom designed deck, tool storage and more, this R.A.D. is locked and loaded for work. We always say, we build the rigs to fit the customer, not the other way around. Our line-up of Acker rigs can be mounted on tracks, trucks, you name it. We’re just as excited to see the finished product as you guys are on delivery day.
