  • Join in today for the December Journal Club at 1pm ET with Robin L Page, PhD, APRN, CNM, FACNM, FAAN. Racial disparities in preterm birth persist, with African American women experiencing disproportionately high rates. Preterm birth is associated with high stress levels experienced by pregnant women, yet this can be difficult to measure to predict preterm birth. In this study, telomere length - a biomarker for stress, was associated with preterm birth. This study supports the need for further exploration of the clinical utility of maternal telomere length for prediction and early intervention of preterm birth.
