The reason comes down to material (1) and design (1A), but there are also ways *you* can help reverse this trend. ➡1. Clean the top AND bottom surfaces Consistent cleanings can add up to 1 year of life to your ergo mats. Cleaning the top helps maintain traction by preventing erosion. Less common but just as important is cleaning the bottom. Particles, dirt, dust, food, bolts and metal shavings build up under your mats and make them likely to slide around. These products also eat away at the fabric, rapidly aging your mats ✅Tip: Closed cell mats are impervious to liquids and can accommodate cleaning products and water w/out breaking down. Open cell may absorb them. ✅Tip 2: Microfiber rags/mops won't leave lint behind on your mat. ➡2. Repair your mats early There's a secrete most mat providers don't want you to know: Anti-fatigue mats can be repaired. They would just rather you buy new. ✅Tip: If you have a simple rip or tear, check with your provider first before buying a new mat to see if repair is possible.
