Winter in Boston promises snow, rain, wind, and freezing temperatures. For too many families, it also means empty refrigerators, drafty apartments, and constant cold. Today, ABCD is launching the Winter Fund to ensure that low-income households can meet their basic needs while staying safe and warm during the winter months. A community action agency is nothing without community. Congratulations to the 19 volunteers, community leaders, administrators, and elected officials who were honored at this year's Community Heroes Celebration. In them, we see our best selves and are inspired to keep showing up for those around us. A special thank you to Senator Ed Markey, Glenn Jones, Noel Gourdin, Rev. Dr. Wesley Roberts, Boston Marriott Copley Place Hotel, and all of our sponsors (including this year's Gold Sponsor Community Energy Services) for their support, generosity, and partnership. Cheers to everyone who attended the 2024 CHC. We can't wait to see you all next year!

ABCD COO Anne Corbin-Fennell and President and CEO Sharon Scott-Chandler recently stopped by the TestandGo® kiosk outside of ABCD's Roxbury/North Dorchester Neighborhood Service Center at 565 Warren Street. TestandGo® kiosks are vending machines that offer STI testing kits, plan b, pregnancy tests, feminine hygiene products, external and internal condoms, and more. Products and testing are free, discreet, convenient, and available 24/7. TestandGo® kiosks also offer resources for follow up referrals to health centers and clinics that: - Are in the neighborhood - Empower the community to take charge of their health care - Encourage early pregnancy testing and therefore decrease the chance of poor outcomes From September 2024 through June 2025, ABCD Health Services has stationed TestandGo® kiosks outside of two additional sites --the ABCD Parker Hill/Fenway Neighborhood Service Center at 714 Parker Street in Roxbury, and the Dorchester Neighborhood Service Center at 110 Claybourne Street.
