The 2025 ARNA conference focuses on the use of the arts as a form of communicating and making meaning throughout the participatory action research (PAR) process. In order to take action and effect change, participants will contemplate this concept and consider the role that visual, lyrical, and performing arts can play in creating action research questions, involving community, documenting and analyzing research findings, and/or exploring creative ways to present participatory action research findings. Based on the presentations and events at the two day conference, participants will investigate opportunities to learn and engage in the arts as elements of action with their potential of influencing individuals, communities, and policies in the future. ----- La conferencia ARNA 2025 está centrada en el uso de las artes como una forma de comunicación y construcción de significado dentro del proceso de investigación-acción participativa (IAP). Los participantes reflexionarán sobre este enfoque y explorarán cómo las artes visuales, líricas y escénicas pueden influir en la formulación de preguntas de investigación-acción, involucrar a la comunidad, documentar y analizar los hallazgos, así como explorar formas creativas de presentar los resultados de la investigación-acción participativa. Welcome Kriti Vashisht, PhD to ARNA's Coordinating Leadership Team! Dr. Kriti Vashisht is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas – Rio Grande Valley in the School of Social Work. Her research primarily focuses on the theoretical foundations of social and political ontology and their implications for human rights, transformative/translational research paradigms, and sustainable community practices. She emphasizes the crucial role of mental health in the global development agenda, especially concerning migration, climate change, and sexual and reproductive justice. Currently, her projects include investigating gaps in critical pedagogy and qualitative research due to evolving social contexts, creating a digital story addressing mental health stigma, and finding sustainable methods for involving communities in research and practice. ----- ¡Le damos la bienvenida al Dra. Kriti Vashisht al equipo de liderazgo coordinador de ARNA! La Dra. Kriti Vashisht es profesora adjunta en la Facultad de Trabajo Social de la Universidad de Texas – Valle del Río Grande. Su investigación se centra principalmente en los fundamentos teóricos de la ontología social y política y sus implicaciones para los derechos humanos, los paradigmas de investigación transformadora/traslacional y las prácticas comunitarias sostenibles. Destaca el papel crucial de la salud mental en la agenda de desarrollo global, especialmente en lo que respecta a la migración, el cambio climático y la justicia sexual y reproductiva.
