In honor of #printersday Ever think about what Gutenberg’s printing press has to do with your food packaging? Probably not—but stick with me. Back in 1440, Johannes Gutenberg didn’t just invent a machine. He changed the game by making information accessible to the masses. Before the printing press, books were painstakingly copied by hand, reserved for the elite. Afterward? Knowledge was democratized, and the world was never the same. Fast forward to today, and we’re seeing something similar happening in printed flexible packaging. The ability to print high-quality, custom designs on demand is shaking up the industry—giving small and mid-sized brands tools that once belonged only to CPG giants. Here’s what’s shifting: 🔹 Goodbye, one-size-fits-all packaging. Digital and short-run printing let brands test new designs, create localized versions, and personalize products faster than ever. A small startup can now compete on the same shelf as industry leaders. 🔹 Packaging is now a storyteller. Just like books spread ideas, smart packaging—think QR codes, augmented reality, and embedded tech—is turning wrappers into interactive experiences that connect brands directly with consumers. 🔹 The sustainability catch. Gutenberg’s press made books cheaper, but it also led to deforestation. Today, we face a similar challenge: new packaging materials (ultra-thin films, compostables) sound great on paper, but can they scale responsibly? At the end of the day, packaging isn’t just about holding a product anymore. It’s about building trust, driving engagement, and adapting in real time. So here’s the question: Is your packaging working for you—or is it just a wrapper? #PackagingInnovation #FlexiblePackaging #PrintingTechnology #CPG #SustainablePackaging #ConsumerEngagement

Last week we said goodbye to Frank Machado. Frank worked in our slitting department for the last 16 years. He came to Admiral as part of an acquisition of another converting company at that time. Incredibly, when he started in 2009, he was already at an age people begin to make plans for retirement. I won't post his age but you can try and do some math. It's worth noting that the slitting department is the most physical job in our operation. Most people do not want to do this kind of work anymore but not Frank. Frank never had any intentions of retiring not because he had to but because it gave him purpose. It was our privilege to be able to work with Frank and take it 'one year at a time' We wish him the very best of health and happiness in his new phase of life.

Every year in January we host our annual Employee Appreciate event. This is Admiral's way of giving back to our employees and showing them how grateful we are for their hard work and dedication throughout the year. During this event, we get together and participate in some fun activities. This is an event where position titles are overlooked, and we all come together as people to let loose and have a great time. Learning and getting to know one another helps create unity and build a better work family community. We look forward to more fun and getting to know more about our Admiral Family at our Summer Outing in June. #AdmiralAppreciates #EmployeeRecognition #AdmiralPackaging #TeamAdmiral #CompanyCulture

Meet Robert Thorn, our Color Specialist at Admiral! 🎨 Rob brings an extensive background in graphic design and photography to our team. Prior to joining Admiral, he was utilizing his skills in photojournalism. In his day-to-day role, Rob focuses on color correction and the four-color process. Simply put, he takes images apart and puts them back together. When asked about the best part of his job, Rob shared, “Working on the files is like a puzzle with no instructions.” He loves the challenge of translating images into their final form. Fun fact: If Rob could travel anywhere in the world, he would visit the Swiss Alps and snowboard. #AdmiralAppreciates #TeamAdmiral #AdmiralPackaging #EmployeeRecognition

“Justice is the partner of progress.” – A. Philip Randolph February is Black History Month. Admiral celebrates Black Pioneers in our industry. Did you know that many of the technologies and tools we use today in the packaging and printing industry were created by African Americans? William A. Lavalette (1839-1914) received several patents for his improvements on printing presses that enhanced quality and efficiency. George Washington Carver (1864-1943) invented printer’s ink using legumes. Percy Lavon Julian (1899-1975) was a chemist, who’s first invention was coating paper with soy protein instead of a milk protein. https://lnkd.in/eE3JyCz7 #BlackHistoryMonth #CelebrateBlackHistory
