Dr. Viktor Reimer (ACTC) and his project partner Dominik Granich (ITA Institut für Textiltechnik der RWTH Aachen University) recently presented at Dornbirn-GFC in Austria, discussing their work on fast prototyping a hydrogen storage pressure vessel made from carbon fiber composite. The concept involves using the same platform as a battery electric car, with energy stored either in a battery or hydrogen under the car's floor. ACTC participated in the 27th China Composites Expo (CCExpo) in Shanghai from September 2-4, presenting nearly 20 innovative products. From international collaborations to innovative pre-research projects, the display highlighted cutting-edge technologies such as SMC, winding, and injection molding, alongside pioneering developments in sustainable materials. Dr. Timo Huber, ACTC’s VP, presented sustainable lightweight solutions for electric vehicles at the 7th International Automotive Composites Innovation Seminar, emphasizing the role of composites in enhancing vehicle performance and sustainability. On August 29, 2024, in Chengdu, Airbus Lifecycle Services Center (ALSC) and HRC established a strategic partnership to launch China's first aircraft dismantling and recycling project. The agreement was signed by Mr. Brian Agnew, GM of ALSC, and Mr. Zhiyong Wang, GM of Carbon Neutrality at HRC, with the signing witnessed by Mr. Gang Xu, GVP of Airbus & CEO of Airbus China; Mr. Chen Zhao, VP of Airbus China; Mr. Yongtao Gu, President of HRC; and Mr. Zheng Gao, VP of Aerospace at HRC. This initiative represents a major step forward in promoting sustainable aviation practices. The collaboration combines HRC's expertise in the full lifecycle of carbon fiber composites with ALSC's unique position as the only aircraft recycling project operated by an aircraft manufacturer. Together, they aim to achieve high material recovery rates, reduce operational costs, and minimize environmental impact.
