The next big change in #robotics is most likely a digital one. 𝐒𝐢𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐢𝐧𝐠 the #roboticsindustry by making it easier for companies to sell, plan, and deploy automation solutions at a much lower risk. I talked with Graham Wloch from Visual Components to learn how their #simulation & #offlineprogramming tools support integrators and end users in the industry. One of the biggest myths is that simulation requires a lot of resources and only used for large projects by large companies. 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐭𝐡. Many integrators and designers use these tools from the start of a sales project to deploying the entire system. Here are 5 Advantages for Simulation and Offline Programming (OLP): ▶️ 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐑𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Before deploying a robotic solution in the real-world, OLP allows programmers to create, test, and validate their programs in a virtual environment which reduces collisions and potential errors. ▶️ 𝐄𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞-𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬: In traditional robotic programming, the robot might need to be taken offline or stopped to allow for new programming or adjustments. OLP can be developed and refined in continuous operation. ▶️ 𝐎𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: When we can visualize the robot's path and tasks in a virtual environment, engineers can find the most efficient paths, optimize cycle times, and reduce unnecessary movements. ▶️ 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠: We can allow new employees when robotic hardware might not be readily available to become familiar with robot operations and processes. ▶️ 𝐅𝐥𝐞𝐱𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: Manufacturing is constantly changing. OLP allows companies to try and test different variations with little risk to current or future production. It's through technology!! 🧑🏽💻 Last year, 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝟔𝟓𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞, equaling 𝟐𝟔,𝟎𝟎𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 of lost tribal knowledge and experience. In order for our industry to stay competitive and productive, we need to change the way we work, which often starts on the production floor. The workers, maintenance professionals, and managers need to make sure machines, assets and equipment are always up and running. During the Advanced Manufacturing Expo happening this week in Michigan, I caught up with Nick Haase, the co-founder of MaintainX, to learn about their approach to preventing downtime and reducing maintenance costs for manufacturers. One of the highlights was designing a solution that will always be available and in every worker's pocket: an app on their phone. By eliminating sticky notes, paper-based lists, and losing track of projects, digital tools and software can improve work orders, reporting, asset management, and preventative maintenance.
