With over 40,000 children diagnosed with congenital heart defects each year in the U.S., the need for specialized medical devices is urgent. Shockingly, 63% of pediatric interventional cardiology procedures rely on off-label devices, which are often intended for adults. CobiCure, is a resident company at Cure, a nonprofit advancing innovation of urgently needed pediatric medical devices. To learn more about how CobiCure is transforming the future of pediatric healthcare and why Emma Moran, PhD, Director of Strategy and Development, emphasizes the urgent issue of underfunding and lack of attention in pediatric medical technologies, read further. #wewillcure https://lnkd.in/ecqHqfWX

This week kicks off the Global Forum for Interventional Cardiology in Washington, D.C., and we couldn't be more excited to support the PolyVascular team as they continue to advance their impact and influence in pediatric interventional medicine. Engaging with some of today’s foremost experts in coronary, structural, and endovascular interventions, Cindy Clague and Katie Bales will present their latest preclinical study, “In Vivo Chronic Performance of a Novel Pediatric-Sized Polymeric Transcatheter Pulmonary Valve,” which underscores their commitment to advancing pediatric cardiology valve technology through minimally invasive interventions. This study’s findings offer a promising path to first-in-human studies and exemplify PolyVascular’s success in developing the first polymeric transcatheter pulmonary valve designed specifically for small children.

MedTech Strategy & Development | Biomedical Engineer | Reimagining the underserved pediatric medical device industry
What a great day in Toronto - well done to the team at Children's National Hospital and APDI for putting on another great event at #mtc24. I hope this is my first of many meetings! Key highlights for me: 🧡 Kickstarting the day with 10 incredible pitches showcasing innovative devices in pediatric cardiac care. I was incredible impressed with the quality of the teams, technologies, and business plans. ⚕️ These innovators made my job moderating the "bringing pediatric medical devices to market" panel a lot easier, as they had just given "real-life" examples of how to do it! We had a diverse set of pediatric physicians on the panel and they all gave fantastic insights into the "what", "why", and "how" to drive these innovations into hospital and home use, integrate into provider work flows, and ensure long-term success. 💡 The day ended with an informative fireside chat between Nada (Osman) Hanafi and acting CDRH director Michelle Tarver. Michele described how the agency is aiming to transform the evaluation of devices used at home, including those in kids of all communities. Thanks to all who made this event and panel happen: Kolaleh Eskandanian, PhD, MBA, PMP, Julia Finkel, Kirstie Keller, PhD, Danielle Gottlieb Sen, Peta Alexander, Brooke Krbec, Jonathan Tan, MD MPH MBI FASA
