ADVI Health recently conducted a survey of patients' experiences and specialty medication access with alternative funding programs (AFPs), which was published in the Journal of Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy (JMCP). The survey consisted of 26 single- and multiple-choice questions to assess patients’ awareness of AFPs from their employers, experience with the patient assistance program application process via the AFP vendor, timeliness of medication access, and the health impact of delays. Responses were analyzed by disease and income level. A greater proportion of patients with hemophilia reported being anxious from waiting for their medication. Patients with lower income levels reported longer wait times. Read the full results of the study: https://lnkd.in/g3EyNaKt

Recently conducting a study on examining access to specialty medications through alternative funding programs (AFPs), ADVI Health Strategic Analytics, Value and Economics (SAVEs) senior director, Irina Yermilov, MD, MPH, MS, dives into these insights derived by her and her team - which was among one of the top four abstracts at this year's AMCP Nexus and received the Platinum Award. The study found that 61 percent of patients learned about AFPs as part of their health plan benefits while trying to obtain specialty medications rather than directly from their employer. 54 percent reported feeling uncomfortable with the AFP vendor representative, often feeling hesitant to share sensitive information.
