Igor Gorlatov met Mariya Boikova at an International House Charlotte fundraiser last week, and what started as a casual conversation turned into an exciting opportunity. Mariya, who moved to the U.S. at 13, has a background in competitive college tennis and now manages a $2.9Mn NIH-funded research project. She’s eager to bring her clinical research expertise and immigrant perspective to the entrepreneurial world as an advisor. At Advisory5, we believe advisors don’t always fit the traditional mold. Some come from large organizations, like Mariya, equipped with deep expertise in NIH grants and clinical operations. These professionals may not see themselves as startup mentors, but their knowledge and networks are invaluable to health tech founders. Mariya is now ready with her onboarding materials and excited to dive into her first venture!
