Since then, this groundbreaking partnership has made significant strides in advancing #roadsafety and saving lives. Key achievements include: 🔹 The Carros Más Seguros campaign, reaching 34 million Colombians and shifting public opinion toward prioritizing safety. 🔹 Passage of the Adhesion Bill to the United Nations' 1958 Agreement, setting the stage for stronger vehicle safety regulations. • Thrilled to see our #CSOAcademy students Brian Ikala and Biwott Kipyego Hazael catalyzing change in Tharaka Nithi County, Kenya! Their advocacy work has helped launch a crucial five-year One Health Strategic Plan (2025-2029).   Working with Kenya Red Cross, they've brought together key stakeholders to address zoonotic diseases through a comprehensive, multi-sectoral approach. This initiative perfectly demonstrates how targeted advocacy can strengthen local health systems and secure political commitment for public health.   Proud of our PE Team’s CSO Academy participants making real impact! #OneHealth #PreventEpidemics #HealthSecurity #GHAI

For years, Tharaka Nithi County has faced challenges from emerging and re-emerging zoonotic diseases and associated health risks. To address these threats, the Kenya Red Cross has worked tirelessly over the past five years to enhance the county’s capacity to prevent, detect and respond to such challenges through a One Health approach. Building on these efforts, the County Government of Tharaka Nithi and the Kenya Red Cross, with support from USAID, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC and the Global Health Advocacy Incubator, have launched a five-year 2025-2029 One Health Strategic Plan to ensure sustainable multisectoral progress in combating these health security challenges.

  • We are thrilled to share that our work has contributed to the creation of two major government budget lines in Kenya—the Public Health Epidemic Preparedness and Response budget line at national level and the One Health budget line at the Kericho county level. These budgets will support the early detection, prevention and response to future infectious disease threats in the country.   Both budget lines were created following consistent engagement with decision makers of Kenyan Public Health Institute, Ministry of Health and the National Treasury by our partners—the National Organization for Peer Educators (NOPE) working closely with the Health NGO Network (Hennet) and others.   We are proud of our Prevent Epidemics team that supported this work. Congratulations to all involved!
