Our own Corina Alvarez and Mario Muñoz Carrillo joined the Safe Mobility Coalition in Quito, Ecuador, to mark the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims. Together with national and local government officials, international organization representatives and civil society advocates, the coalition organized impactful events to drive political action for life-saving road safety policies. One of the most poignant moments was the symbolic painting of 250 directly on the street—representing the lives tragically lost on Quito’s roads this year. Citizens and advocates united in solidarity, leaving their painted handprints beside the number as a powerful call to action for safer mobility. #RoadSafety #WDoR

#GHAIImpact2024: Advancing Public Health in Vietnam Our collaboration with the Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI) has been transformative in addressing drowning—a leading cause of child death in Vietnam. Through this partnership, we’ve aligned with global best practices and Vietnam’s national policy goals (Decision 1248/QĐ-TTg for 2021–2030). Key Achievements: ✅ Drowning prevention: trained 2,000+ children aged 7–12 in survival swimming and water safety, directly contributing to reduced drowning risks in vulnerable communities. ✅ Sustainable capacity building: certified 56 swimming instructors, ensuring the program’s reach and longevity. 🌊 Together, we’re not only saving lives today but building a safer, healthier future for communities across Vietnam. Thank you, GHAI, for your support and commitment to this mission! For years, Tharaka Nithi County has faced challenges from emerging and re-emerging zoonotic diseases and associated health risks. To address these threats, the Kenya Red Cross has worked tirelessly over the past five years to enhance the county’s capacity to prevent, detect and respond to such challenges through a One Health approach. Building on these efforts, the County Government of Tharaka Nithi and the Kenya Red Cross, with support from USAID, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies - IFRC and the Global Health Advocacy Incubator, have launched a five-year 2025-2029 One Health Strategic Plan to ensure sustainable multisectoral progress in combating these health security challenges.

We were proud to join global leaders, civil society organizations and advocates at a pivotal event during the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro. The discussions on hunger, poverty and inequality culminated in the announcement of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty—a coalition to drive sustainable, equitable food systems worldwide. Our Vice President of Food and Nutrition, Veronica Schoj, contributed key recommendations, emphasizing safeguards against conflicts of interest and innovative funding reforms. Together, we’re championing policies that prioritize human rights, healthy diets and equity. Collaboration is essential, and we’re proud to stand with partners committed to lasting change.
