🌟 Exciting Milestone for Aerolabz at the American Corner Mtaani Launch! 🌟 Sponsored by the U.S. Embassy, American Corners are dynamic spaces where the public can explore a wide array of educational resources and innovative technology. From English language learning and career development workshops to hands-on access to robotics, 3D printing, and virtual reality, these centers offer invaluable tools for personal and professional growth. Now, with the newly launched American Corner Mtaani at theKenya National Library Service (KNLS), young Kenyans have an accessible hub to dive into topics like fashion and design, entrepreneurship, technology, and career development. During the launch event, Aerolabz had the honor of showcasing our interactive STEM programs to U.S. Ambassador Meg Whitman, PS for the State Department of Culture, Arts, and Heritage - Ummi Bashir, CBS, as well a CEO Kenya National Library Service - Dr. Charles Nzivo. Amb. Whitman took a turn piloting one of our indoor drones, getting a hands-on feel for how we’re bringing STEM to life and making STEM education accessible and engaging for students across Kenya. We’re deeply grateful to the U.S Embassy Nairobi, Kenya National Library Service (KNLS), Kenya Flying Labs, and all partners who made this event possible. Together, we’re paving the way for Kenya’s next generation of innovators, thinkers, and leaders! 🌍✨ 🚀 🛩️ #Aerolabz #AmericanCornerMtaani #KNLS #InnovationInEducation #STEMLearning #DroneEducation #EmpoweringYouth #FutureLeaders Cleopa Otieno Selina Musau Susan Mumbi David Ndichu MaryJane Wangari Irungu Macharia

130-meter high-rise firefighting drone drill A fire suddenly broke out on the upper floors of a building more than 100 meters high. Cries for help were heard in the billowing smoke, but the corridor leading to the upper floors was damaged and the fire ladder truck could not reach the height of the fire... In an emergency, several firefighting drones mounted with fire hoses quickly took off into the air facing the flames. Huge water columns sprayed from the fire hose outlets to the fire scene, the fire was controlled within 15 minutes. This scene did not happen in a movie, but a real high-rise fire scene actual firefighting drill that was staged in Fuzhou yesterday. This drill was close to "actual combat". In an office building with an actual height of more than 100 meters, the highest drill floor (110 meters) and the largest fire scene area (the total height of the fire scene was 130 meters and the fire area was 500 square meters) were set up. The firefighting drones climbed to a height of 100 meters in 20 seconds and completed the firefighting task in 20 minutes. #firefighting #civildefence #disastermanagement #emergencymanagement #publicsafety #uav #drone #ai #urbanplanning #smartcity #security #searchandrescue #publicservice

UAS Co-creation Workshop 🚀 Q: Apart from the photography/videography (as witnessed in weddings 😉 ) and aerial survey/mapping, in what other areas do you know in which UAS (𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬 as you know them) are used? July 29th - 31st, WeRobotics and Kenya Flying Labs hosted the "UAS Regulations and Co-creation workshop" that brought together 48 brilliant minds from across Kenya's drone ecosystem. Some of the areas we delved into included but not limited to: ⁉ How can we unlock the full potential of UAS technology? ⁉ What regulatory framework will best support innovation and safety? ⁉ And how do we ensure that regulations keep pace with the rapidly evolving drone industry? We collectively explored ways to contribute to the regulatory landscape in Kenya. Among other findings we, identified 72 use cases. 💡 39 current use cases (54%) 💡 33 possible future use cases (46%) From identifying use cases crafting recommendations for the regulatory framework that fosters innovation and safety, we laid the flight plan for Kenya's drone future. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭? Exciting week ahead as we reconvene to prioritize the key areas and develop practical solutions that can be incorporated into the technical guidance materials for the revised regulations by KCAA. Imagine Kenya where drones aren't just used to capture aerials footages or mapping. What if we could revolutionize education and research through UAS technology? At The Aeronautics Lab, we envision a tomorrow where UAS technology becomes a tool to foster innovation and creativity in education. Join us. Let's soar to new heights together! 🚀 #UAS #drones #Kenya #innovation   Cleopa Otieno Sonja Betschart Kenya Flying Labs Naibei Kibet Madeline Albright Kenya Civil Aviation Authority The Aeronautics Lab

🚀 Reflecting of the Week that was AVIATION, INNOVATION, DEALS & DRINKS 😎 ! 🚀 HAVE you heard! There is a company currently building and aircraft in Kenya? Yeees that's right. Thanks to the team at Alila Industries Limited led by Madeline Albright, the first aircraft designed and manufactured in Kenya will soon take to the skies. What an incredible time to be part of the Kenyan Aviation industry. I digressed(stay tuned for more tea about this). Earlier this week, I had an incredible opportunity to attend the DEALS & DRINKS event by VBAN; where a number of startups presented amazing pitch decks, and I must say, it was a truly inspiring experience. 🌟 Witnessing the innovative ideas and transformative impacts these startups are making in various industries, the passion and creativity in the room were palpable and it reinforced my belief in the power of innovation to drive change and address the societal challenges. As a founder, this event was a fantastic opportunity to learn, connect, and be inspired by fellow entrepreneurs. Congratulations to Expendo Mobility, Zendawa, DigiTax, Baki Beauty, and Medikea on the awesome work across the continent. Your inspiration will undoubtedly fuel our journey ahead. Join us at The Aeronautics Lab as we transform STEM education in Kenya and Africa. Here’s to the relentless spirit of innovation and the boundless possibilities! 💡🌍 #Startups #Innovation #Inspiration #Networking

Over the past three days, we have had the privilege of conducting a co-creation workshop at USIU Africa, in collaboration with Kenya Flying Labs and KUASA. This workshop brought together Kenyan drone/RPAS users from across a wide variety of backgrounds. Our collaborative effort focuses on evolving the regulatory framework based on both current and future applications in a data-driven manner. Our initiative aims to pave the way for a thriving drone and UAS ecosystem in Kenya, all the while enabling the routine operation of drones and UAS in a safe, harmonized, and seamless manner. Workshop Highlights: 📜 We cataloged a total of 72 drone/RPAS applications in Kenya. 🔍 We identified challenges faced in drone usage in Kenya and brainstormed potential solutions. 👉 We pinpointed ideal future states and recommendations. cc Sonja Betschart, Elsa Klarich, Cleopa Otieno, Kenneth Ramah, Michelle Korir, MaryJane Wangari, Rebecca wambui #DroneTechnology #UAS #RPAS #Kenya #Regulations
