Another incredible milestone achieved by Breaking Down Barriers scholarship recipient, Shakeel Pearson! While many of us were prepping for Thanksgiving, Shakeel was hard at work preparing for his Instrument checkride—and, as expected, he crushed it, earning his instrument rating! He wastes no time as he's already into his commercial single-engine training with Parrish Aviation Flight Academy. Shakeel’s dedication and drive continue to inspire us, and we are so proud of his accomplishments. This young man has a bright future ahead! 👏👏👏

The AEPA Aviation & Aerospace Workforce Summit will occur on February 24-27, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency Crystal City in Crystal City, Virginia. The Aerospace Education Program Alliance (AEPA) represents the interests of aerospace education programs. The AEPA brings aerospace education programs together, giving these programs a collective voice so they can better help youth pursue careers in aerospace. AEPA is focused on bringing aerospace education programs together to plug the leaks and expand the number of students into aviation and aerospace careers. This Summit brings together the expertise and experience of several groups to develop collaborative solutions to the aerospace workforce issue. It's been a great experience attending the AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) Annual Meeting representing NASAO - National Association of State Aviation Officials. AASHTO's inclusion of two Aviation events this week with several state aviation directors participating marks a significant stride in raising awareness of aviation issues among state transportation department leaders. AEPA Aviation & Aerospace Workforce Summit Taking Action Together February 24-27, 2025 Hyatt Regency Crystal City, Crystal City, Virginia   Developing Workforce Solutions For Civil Aviation, Aerospace & Defense And Space   Aerospace Education Program Alliance (AEPA) represents the interests of aerospace education programs. The AEPA brings aerospace education programs together, giving these programs a collective voice so they can better help youth pursue careers in aerospace. AEPA is focused on bringing aerospace education programs together to plug the leaks and expand the number of students into aviation and aerospace careers. Accomplishing this goal is critical for the U.S. economic competitiveness and national security. AEPA has developed Regional Aviation and Aerospace Networks Partnership with the goal of building a national network of these networks to help the Regional Aviation and Aerospace Networks advance their goals and address the national workforce issue. These networks will be used to implement solutions to national aviation and aerospace workforce issues at the local level. The networks are collectives of industry, education and government organizations that are working together to build the education pipeline, aviation and aerospace workforce, and economy in a particular local or regional geography. Summit brings together the key sectors of industry, government and education to identify issues in the aviation and aerospace workforce and develop solutions. Sectors and groups have been attempting to solve the workforce issue on their own. No single organization or sector has all the all the knowledge, expertise or perspective to solve the workforce issue. This Summit brings the expertise and experience from all of these groups to develop solutions to the aerospace workforce issue collaboratively. Learn how to plug the aerospace workforce into your organization!    The Summit has three areas of innovation: (1) It brings together civil (general) aviation, aerospace & defense and space; (2) It involves the participants as direct contributors addressing issues and solutions; and (3) It has a follow up plan to address the national aviation and aerospace workforce issues by implementing solutions at the local and regional levels. Girls in Aviation Day at Newark Airport was an inspiring and joyful experience! 🌟 On September 21st, we had the pleasure of hosting the Boys and Girls Club of New Jersey for a day filled with exploration, hands-on activities, and aviation fun. ✈️ It was incredible to see the kids engage with the wonders of the aviation industry, sparking their curiosity and inspiring them to dream big. From learning about aircraft to imagining their own future in the skies, it was a day they won’t soon forget. 🛫✨ Special thanks to everyone who made this day possible and to the Boys and Girls Club of NJ for joining us. This is what it’s all about—empowering young minds and building a future where everyone can reach new heights!
