Happy to update my LinkedIn frends that we made it to #8 top seller! This is an important achievement as next week we are going free to play and will no longer be eligible for the "top seller" category. We'll be aiming for the "Trending Today" category - up against giants like Gorilla Tag, VR Chat, and the biggest one of all Meta Horizon!

While VR traditionally sees a 'summer lull' in usage, 2024 data shows summer actually peaked for game engagement (pre-holiday season) across multiple different VR titles. Makes sense - the core VR gaming demographic (boys 10-18) aligns perfectly with school breaks. 99% Uptime is about 4 days of downtime a year. VAIL VR strives for 99.999999999% uptime, but what is more important is how quickly we recover when we (inevitably) go down. VAIL's backend which was built with care by Companion Group (Liam Brennan, Jim Umstot) and AccelByte (Alexander Vlahopoulos) experienced a brief downtime late Tuesday evening. AccelByte brought it back online almost as quickly as we realized it was down, and I'm not sure many players even had the chance to notice. The human touch, the curiosity, and unlimited realtime communication makes it all work. I wish it was taught better in books. Thanks to AccelByte for being the daily protectors of the infrastructure that large live multiplayer worlds rely on. :)
