Our latest 💡 Student Spotlight 💡 is on United States Air Force Major Justin Moore! Major Moore is a student in the Department of Cyberspace Studies -- (AFIT/EXC) Joint Advanced Cyberspace Operations course (Cyberspace 300) at the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. We asked Major Moore a few questions to get better acquainted. ➡️What is your home unit? 561st Network Operations Squadron ➡️What is your current duty? Director of Operations ➡️What has been your favorite Cyberspace 300 lesson so far, and why? The Student Enrichment briefings - specifically the Checkmate briefing on what we are doing about China. ➡️What have you enjoyed about Cyberspace 300 so far? The collaboration with other students. We often get stuck in our own little world and forget there are a lot of other things going on that is related to cyber...from going down range to enable alternative access to enterprise operations/securing the Department of the Air Force Information Network. ➡️What is an interesting fact about yourself? Whenever I go to sleep, I have to build a small little teepee for my feet when I sleep. I can't have anything touching my feet, but my feet must be covered and toasty. So every time I stay in a hotel and go to sleep, the very first thing I do is untuck all of the sheets around my feet and build my little teepee. Thank you Major Moore for being part of another great Cyberspace 300 class! Learn more about Cyberspace 300: https://lnkd.in/dS5DQmyp #airforce #AFIT #cyberspace #education

Students attending Department of Cyberspace Studies -- (AFIT/EXC)'s Joint Intermediate Cyberspace Operations (Cyberspace 200) Class FY25B at the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology have been working hard but have also had fun. Recently the students enjoyed an after-class social with some Department faculty at the Wandering Griffin. 💬 Our students from the United States Air Force, the United States Space Force, and across the United States Department of Defense, consistently provide us feedback that the value of coming together for Cyberspace 200 and Cyberspace 300 is not just the cyberspace-related lesson material, but the opportunity to network with other cyberspace professionals, build relationships, and learn from each other. Thank you Wandering Griffin for hosting us and for what you do to support the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base community. 🎯 Cyberspace 200 Purpose Statement: To develop warfighter communications and cyberspace effects officers by enhancing their operational mindset to plan, operate, and execute capabilities across full spectrum operations and joint multi-domain environments securing the competitive advantage over our nation's adversaries. 🎯 Cyberspace 200 Course Objectives: • Organizational Understanding: Understand the full spectrum of communications and cyberspace organizations, operations, and core competencies. • Planning and Integration: Apply military planning processes and critical thinking skills to integrate communications and cyberspace capabilities to achieve mission objectives. • Conceptual Knowledge: Understand key concepts regarding communications and cyberspace, doctrine, strategy, policy, and professional development opportunities. 🎯 Cyberspace 200 Focus Areas: • Capabilities: Explain communications and cyberspace capabilities, including their functionalities, applications, and implications for joint multi-domain operations. • OT&E: Differentiate roles and responsibilities of DoD organizations and how they related to communications and cyberspace operations. • Operations Environment: Explain the evolving nature of cyberspace, information warfare, and the digital and operational environment. • Planning: Develop an operational design and plan that incorporates communications and cyberspace capabilities and resilience within a joint multi-domain environment. • Enrichment: Demonstrate an understanding of relevant communications and cyberspace topics that extend beyond individual areas of expertise. Our latest 💡 Student Spotlight 💡 is on United States Air Force Captain Timothy Kokotajlo! Captain Kokotajlo is part of the current Department of Cyberspace Studies -- (AFIT/EXC) Joint Intermediate Cyberspace Operations course (Cyberspace 200) at the U.S. Air Force Institute of Technology on Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. We asked Captain Kokotajlo a few questions to get better acquainted. ➡️What is your home unit? Hosting and Compute (J9), Defense Information Systems Agency, Arlington, VA ➡️What is your current duty? I currently work within the Hosting and Compute office, acting in a 62E billet to govern, manage, and run a DevSecOps team building out Cloud Accelerator software for the Joint Warfighting Cloud Capability (JWCC). It means I get a lot of technical and non-technical experience running a very modern and capable development team, and have the opportunity to grow a program and learn all the back-end processes that go into maintaining and sustaining United States Department of Defense software. ➡️What has been your favorite Cyberspace 200 lesson so far, and why? Information Operations was definitely the most interesting - while I hope these particular lesson objectives were already obvious to all Cyber officers, the examples and detailed breakdown helped drive home just how important InfoOps are to national security and how an offense in this space looks like. ➡️What have you enjoyed about Cyberspace 200 so far? Networking with other Cyber Officers - I've already met several people who have been at my next assignment, have helped refer people to existing DoD solutions to problems they're having at their unit, and have learned a lot about how the rest of cyber operates just from discussing similarities and differences between our experiences as CGOs. ➡️What is an interesting fact about yourself? I'm passionate about AI safety and alignment - the latest technologies using AI are really neat to look at, but I'm personally drawn to the fascinating moral, ethical, and national security ramifications not of today's AI, but the AI we may be seeing in 5 to 10 years. Thank you Captain Kokotajlo for being part of another great Cyberspace 200 class! Learn more about Cyberspace 200: https://lnkd.in/ga3BAc9F #airforce #cyberspace #education
