We’re relieved that the Mirador, one of our newly built affordable housing communities, is still standing after the Eaton fire, and its senior residents are all safe. As detailed in HousingFinance.com, the property team worked tirelessly through the night and early morning in early January to evacuate people. Jimmy Silverwood, president of our partner Affirmed Housing, credits employees at CONAM Management Corporation Corp., and Union Station Homeless Services for their efforts. Thank you to the firefighters, property team, and first responders who ensured that the senior population of Mirador, many of whom were formerly homeless, still have a place to call home. SkyLINE construction update! 🚧 🏗️ We recently toured SkyLINE with our partners at San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) and our general contractor HA Builder Group. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the L.A. County fires, including the brave first responders and residents of Mirador, our newly completed community for seniors in Altadena that was narrowly spared by the Eaton fire. Affirmed Housing is extremely grateful to our partners at CONAM Management Corporation, who safely evacuated Mirador's residents through the night and into the early morning. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our service providers at Union Station Homeless Services, who continue to keep our residents connected and supported throughout this difficult time. Our priority is the safe and timely return of our residents to their new homes, and we are committed to supporting this resilient community as it heals and rebuilds.

Yesterday, we celebrated the grand opening of Estrella in San Marcos! Estrella provides 96 apartment homes for low-income families in the City of San Marcos, CA, with 2 apartments reserved for on-site management. Amenities at Estrella include a community building with a kitchen, computer room and barbeque area, four tot lots, a teen recreation area and complimentary, on-site services provided by Compass for Affordable Housing. Estrella replaced 30 existing, outdated apartments with 96 new apartment homes and follows the completion of our adjacent development, Alora, which opened last year. For the second year, we had the privilege to participate in a community focused program called the Real Estate Awareness and Diversity Initiative (READI) program, organized by the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate at the University of San Diego. The mission of this program is to promote real estate as a career path for high school students in underserved communities by inviting them to visit various San Diego real estate companies. Our team hosted a group of high school students from the Junior Achievement of San Diego County organization and shared various career pathways in commercial real estate and affordable housing.
