🏆⚡Congratulations to our new CHAMPION OF THE MONTH! Mohamed Khairy ELGHABED is a knowledge management advisor in renewable energy with UNDP Mauritania, supporting the Africa Minigrids Program (AMP) national project. He is also affiliated with the Rural Electrification Program for Isolated Areas in Mauritania (PERZI). While in the field, Khairy briefly shared some information about his background. He remarked on the critical need for integrated local development and how, through solar minigrids, access to electricity can stimulate income-generating activities and ensure essential services for rural communities across Mauritania.  Stay tuned for some exciting news concerning the launch of two minigrid pilot sites! L'équipe travaille sur une série de courts métrages qui illustreront les conditions et les besoins des trois communautés rurales sélectionnées comme sites de projets pilotes. Récemment, Farida Ahmed Karim, chef de projet de l'AMP Comores, a rejoint l'agence de communication, capturant des séquences vidéo et des interviews sur les sites avant le lancement de la mise en œuvre. Les photos ci-dessous montrent Mohéli, la plus petite des quatre grandes îles des Comores. L'endroit a également un grand potentiel pour devenir une destination touristique, que l'électrification par minigrids solaires peut aider à stimuler. ☀️Recent news out of Zambia! ENGIE Energy Access (Africa) announced the inauguration of five new solar minigrids, a major milestone in their mission to bring clean, reliable, and sustainable energy to communities across the country. The project is part of the Increased Access to Electricity and Renewable Energy Production (IAEREP) initiative, funded by the European Union through the Government of Zambia. With a total installed capacity of 5.7 MW, these minigrids will provide clean energy to over 70,000 people in rural communities. The launch is part of a larger commitment to deliver 71 solar minigrids across Zambia in the next two years.
