𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐈 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐚 𝐂𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞, 𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐈 𝐀𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 I'll admit, my coding skills have seen better days. So, when I recently needed a Chrome extension to automatically gather web content and feed it into my Agent700 data library, traditional development didn't seem like the best approach. I wasn't keen on spending weeks refreshing my coding knowledge or pulling our engineering team away from their main projects. That's when I decided to see what my AI Agents could do. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐀𝐈 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐌𝐲 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐔𝐩? I approached this as an experiment. Could Agent700, our AI agent platform, really tackle a project with this level of complexity? I began by creating an agent and assigning it the role of "Chrome Extension Developer." The aim was to craft an extension capable of scraping specific data from websites and integrating it smoothly with our internal systems. 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐈: 𝐀 𝐒𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐲 𝐒𝐦𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬 The most unexpected part was how intuitive the development process felt. I simply described the functionality I needed in plain English, almost as if briefing a human developer. The AI responded by generating relevant code snippets, which I could then review and adjust. 𝐈𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: 𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐲 𝐅𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 I adopted an iterative approach, concentrating on one feature at a time. First, the content scraping functionality, followed by the saving mechanism, and so on. This step-by-step method made the project feel much more manageable. The AI's speed and precision were impressive, taking care of most of the coding challenges. 𝐃𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐠𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐈: 𝐀 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐀𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡 Naturally, there were hurdles along the way. The initial version had a few quirks, such as a cumbersome side panel and less-than-ideal visual design. However, each time I faced an issue, I described the problem to the AI, and it quickly generated updated code to fix it. It felt like having a collaborative coding partner, even though that partner was an AI. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐥𝐭: 𝐀 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬  A fully functional Chrome extension, just as I imagined, now available in the Chrome Web Store.
