Training the next generation of healthcare professionals starts with building empathy and understanding. This week, we had the privilege of hosting an in-person Dementia Live training with City Colleges of Chicago-Malcolm X College, equipping future medical assistants with the tools to provide compassionate, patient-centered dementia care. As Christine Dzoga, Senior Director of Medical Assisting, shared: “Dementia is not just about memory loss; it’s about understanding that patients may be struggling in ways that are invisible to others. This is going to be an invaluable resource as Malcolm X Medical Assisting trains our future practitioners.” We’re honored to play a role in shaping healthcare providers who will make a lasting difference in the lives of those living with dementia.

For years, dementia training was missing a key element—experiential learning. January Brown and her team at the Eastern North Carolina Area Agency on Aging saw that gap and took action. From training first responders to partnering with local institutions like the North Carolina Aquarium, January has pioneered Dementia Live as a tool to build empathy and understanding across her community. The impact? Care teams and professionals who now see dementia through the eyes of those living with it.
