I became certified as a Dementia Live Coach a year and half ago. Dementia Live is life changing training for individuals navigating life with someone experiencing Dementia. The Dementia Live simulation allows individuals to experience a brief glimpse into the experiences of someone with dementia. I am sharing this today since they recently developed digital badges for their coaches and I received my badge today. In the past year and half I have had the opportunity to offer this simulation and training to 125 individuals. I look forward to many more opportunities to share this experience with others in the coming year.

I first went through the Dementia Live simulation this summer and was moved beyond words after getting a glimpse of what my residents experience everyday. A few months later, I am now a Certified Dementia Live Coach and will soon be bringing this experience to our team at Tech Ridge Oaks. Although we will never fully understand the daily obstacles our Memory Care residents face, I'm confident that the DL program will impact and inspire our team.
