Last week I had the chance to share my research at BtBsDay, the yearly conference of our Department - Dipartimento di Biotecnologie e Bioscienze - UNIMIB, and I won the prize for best presentation! It was a great opportunity to share the goal and strategy of the Agro2Circular project which aims at developing an integrated solution to foster circularity in the agricultural sector. In particular, we are involved in the project for the upcycling of hydrolyzed PET waste. I showed the results I obtained in Bioengineering TalTech Lab, where I studied the metabolism of ethylene glycol in the red oleaginous yeast 𝘙𝘩𝘰𝘥𝘰𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘢 𝘵𝘰𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘰𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘴. On February 4th, our partner Tecnoalimenti S.C.p.A., presented #Agro2Circular to the Lombardy strategic community: Secure and Sustainable Food Manufacturing. Their presentation highlighted the project’s objectives and reinforced the region’s role as a pivotal replication site, demonstrating how collaborative efforts can drive the adoption of circular economy principles in food manufacturing. Yesterday, Tecnoalimenti presented the Agro2Circular #MultidimensionalModel at the Lombardy Strategic Community Secure and Sustainable Food Manufacturing event. We had the pleasure of engaging with regional stakeholders from the food and technology sectors, and we extend our sincere thanks to AFIL - Associazione Fabbrica Intelligente Lombardia for their valuable contribution to the discussion. Together, we explored fresh insights and strategies for advancing toward a #CircularEconomy. 🌱
