🌟 ReForest #WorkingGroup on Training & Upskilling Farmers for Agroforestry Kick-off meeting! 🌳 Last week, the Training & Upskilling Farmers for Agroforestry Working Group held its first meeting, establishing itself as a supportive place to exchange ideas, share best practices, and break barriers in #agroforestry adoption, considering all the challenges that farmers face! 💡 Here’s what stood out during this productive discussion: 🔹 An overview of ReForest tools and resources to be applied in training and upskilling for farmers. 🔹 Discussions on bridging gaps between farmers and digital tools and ways to overcome the difficulties with user-friendly guidance materials, factsheets, and engaging short videos. 🔹 Plans to include case studies and user journeys to enhance understanding and encourage agroforestry adoption. 🛠️ What’s Next? 🔹 Exploring approaches for effective farmer training, including peer-to-peer learning and consultations. 🔹 Further engaging stakeholders through the ReForest Platform with interactive forums and targeted discussions. 💚 Led by the Organic Research Centre (Will Simonson and Janie Caldbeck), this group is committed to equipping farmers with the skills and resources to make agroforestry more accessible and impactful in Europe during the lifetime of the ReForest project and beyond it. 🚀 We’re just getting started! 🌿 ReForest joined the PATH2DEA's Agroecology Cluster's second meeting! 💡🌾The #cluster is a vibrant platform uniting projects to drive innovation in #sustainablefarming through digital solutions. The meeting opened with insightful presentations from several initiatives: 🌐Inclusive Digital Tools Project aiming to support inclusivity through digital tools that integrate climate resilience and agroecological goals while fostering farmer-driven innovation. 🌱 The AGROSUS_HE Project shared their holistic agroecological weed management strategies and insights from their co-created with stakeholders. 💻D4AgEcol project revealed how they adapting digital tools to support the transition to sustainable agricultural systems. 🗨️ The discussions underscored common challenges, such as enhancing farmer inclusion and trust in digital innovations. Speakers emphasised the importance of engaging farmers from the start to ensure practical alignment and the bridging gaps in accessibility and usability of digital tools. 💻🌾 The meeting showcased the power of collaboration to tackle complex challenges in sustainable agriculture. By combining digital tools with agroecological principles, the cluster projects contribute to a transformative vision of food systems. 🌿💰🌱Last week, ReForest & DigitAF projects came together for a vibrant #workshop in the Netherlands to share experience and advancements in the development of #financialtools for #agroforestry 💡Partners from ILVO (Instituut voor Landbouw, Visserij- en Voedingsonderzoek), Deutscher Fachverband für Agroforstwirtschaft (DeFAF) e.V., Cranfield University, Louis Bolk Institute, FarmTree B.V., Universoty of Pisa, and the Czech Research Institute for Landscape showcased their financial tools: 🌿Yield-SAFE 🌿#INTACT 🌿#AgroforstRechner 🌿#FarmTreeTool 🌿Czech institute's tool The participants explored how these models complement one another, exchanged feedback, and brainstormed new ideas for #collaboration by diving deeper on how to: 💡 solve real-world challenges. 💡 secure financing for agroforestry and food forests. 💡 drive research and innovation in sustainable farming. 🌳🐄An inspiring farm visit to Boerderij tussen de Hagen, a Dutch organic dairy farm transitioning to fruit and nut #agroforestry on pastureland, enriched and inspired discussions .
