🦺 Here at The AG Team, safety is one of our top priorities. Not just for our drivers, but for everyone else on the road. As a truck driver, one of the steps in your pre-trip inspection is making sure your air brakes are in good operating order before hitting the road. Properly functioning air brakes are essential for safe driving. While there are a few steps behind this check, this essential check isn't that complicated at all. Before completing your in-cab air brake tests, you need to visually inspect the individual components of the air brake system during the walkaround portion of your pre-trip. 1. Make sure you are parked on level ground and that the wheels are chocked to prevent the vehicle from moving 🛣️ 2. Check slack adjusters on S-cam brakes 3. Check brake drums, linings and hoses Once your walkaround is complete, you can move on to the in-cab air brake tests. These are the main seven steps to complete: 1. Check air compressor governor cut-in and cut-out pressures 2. Test air leakage rate 3. Test low pressure warning signal ⚠️ 4. Check that spring brakes come on automatically 5. Check rate of air pressure buildup ⏱️ 6. Trailer and parking brake test 7. Service brake test Easy peasy braking easy! Learn more: https://bit.ly/3UhWfYI #theagteam #wisdomwednesday #brakeeasy

The AG Team has grown exponentially over the years and is projected to continue with no end in sight. There is no doubt we wouldn't be where we are today without our team on site and out on the road. Another important piece of growth within a company is a strong leadership to help us all get there 💪. So please join me in wishing our team leader Jacob Sam a happy bosses day! Can't wait to see where we go next 🙌 #agteam #bossesday #truckingindustry

I've said it once, I'll say it again - no better community than the trucking community 💪 "An 18-wheeler filled to the brim with bottled water, dog food, diapers and more will soon depart Cape Cod to deliver needed supplies to areas hit hard by Hurricane Helene. Yesterday morning, members from local police departments and other volunteers were busy at the parking lot of the Barnstable County Sheriff's office, moving the mountains of donated goods into the 18-wheeler, scheduled to depart on Tuesday." 🦺 Weigh stations can be found all over the nation’s highways, but if you are new to the transportation industry, you might not know exactly what they’re for. Truck weigh stations are checkpoints where officials inspect the weight of commercial vehicles. Weigh stations use scales to ensure vehicles follow DOT regulations. The purpose of weigh stations is to prevent roads and bridges from being damaged by overweight commercial vehicles. Some of the safety risks associated with operating an overweight vehicle include: - Tire blowouts 🚚 - Longer braking times - More difficulty controlling the truck - Increased chance of a rollover Commercial vehicles over 10,000 pounds must stop at any open weigh stations along their route. If a driver does not stop at an open weigh station, they could be pulled over and fined. The assessment is typically done by a highway patrol officer or an official from the DOT or the DMV. Three of the potential weight violations are: - A gross weight of over 80,000 pounds - A single-axle weight of over 20,000 pounds 🏋️ - A tandem-axle weight of over 34,000 pounds Weigh stations don’t always just check the weight of the vehicle. On occasion, the officials at a station will stop a vehicle to conduct an inspection such as: - Improper tire tread depth - Faulty brake systems - Unsafe cargo securement - Log book violations 📖 - An invalid or expired CDL Read more: https://bit.ly/3XZYvVJ #agteam #wisdomwednesday #truckingindustry
