🚨 AICPA UPDATE - IRS🚨 An important statement from Mark Koziel CPA, CGMA, President & CEO of AICPA: “For many years, one of the top priorities at the AICPA has been to promote efforts that ensure the #IRS has the appropriate resources to meet the needs of taxpayers and preparers. Our goal is to support taxpayers and our members during times of uncertainty and to provide guidance to help navigate any changes that may affect critical, time-sensitive interactions with the IRS. “Many are concerned with potential challenges that could arise from recent changes throughout government. While there is a lot of speculation and many unknowns, the AICPA is actively monitoring the situation and engaging with IRS leadership and other key stakeholders to understand and mitigate the impact of these changes on IRS services. “Internal Revenue Service service levels and modernization efforts have seen progress since the COVID-19 pandemic and we are committed to seeing those efforts continue. Americans deserve a fully functioning agency that can be respected by taxpayers and their preparers, thereby allowing them to comply with their tax obligations.” Full article: https://lnkd.in/ed6Qt-Gf. #Tax #Accounting #TaxSeason

🚨AICPA UPDATE🚨 Melanie Lauridsen, Vice President for Tax Policy & Advocacy at AICPA will continue to share updates here on this important topic.
🔥 IRS should be prepared to meet the needs of taxpayers and their advisors🔥 As the Administration considers changes to staffing and resources at the Internal Revenue Service, we encourage them to maintain the necessary overall service levels. In particular, it is essential that the IRS has the ability to meet the needs of #taxpayers and their preparers this filing season. The AICPA believes the Administration should determine IRS service levels and provide appropriate resources. Millions of Americans rely on the IRS’s critical role to help them comply with their #tax obligations. In order to allow Americans to comply, the IRS must continue their daily operations and build upon the progress made to improve taxpayer services. Furthermore, in the interest of good tax policy, the AICPA has long advocated for policies to modernize the IRS through improved taxpayer experiences and a streamlined tax administration system. A top concern for the AICPA remains that the IRS must have the ability to meet the needs of taxpayers and their preparers and we continue to urge the Administration to maintain the necessary support to ensure taxpayers receive the guidance they need and deserve.

🚨 AICPA UPDATE - Section 199A 🚨 Melanie Lauridsen, Vice President for Tax Policy & Advocacy at AICPA, shares notes on AICPA's comment letter regarding the #QBI deduction below.
AICPA Makes Push to Congress to Amend Section 199A Section #199A - the #QBI deduction - is a significant issue for small #business owners across the country. The AICPA is recommending that, in preparation for a tax reconciliation bill, #Congress consider amending section 199A. Specifically, we are asking to increase and index the $50,000 (non-joint returns) and $100,000 (joint returns) limitation phase-in range. By doing so, it will diminish the distinction between SSTB QBI and non-SSTB QBI and reduce the marginal income tax rate effect. Check out the AICPA’s comment letter for more specifics.
