Todays #FeelGoodFriday post is again about giving back. We are hugely proud to say that we are now a partner for this amazing initiative called Emiel’s Food Forrest. As you will be able to read in the attached link Earthself Community Interest Company partnership with Talladh-a-Bheithe Estates have developed Emiel’s Food Forrest on the shores of Loch Rannoch. This is something that we have spoke about with trying to implement in Ayrshire. Being part of this will help us understand more about the development of a food forest and be able to support this amazing project. We are joining the likes of Britton SCOTLAND Highland Game, FRINOVA WOODLANDS (CAMUSERICHT) LIMITED Bidwells Falling Leaf Clothing, BMP EUROPE, Think Partnership Ltd Highland Club and so many more great businesses who are partners and supporters of the Nature Positive Future campaign. When speaking to Tabitha Jayne from Earthself Tabi advised us that the purpose of Earthself is as follows: Earthself Initiatives (EI) Aims to: Utilise Emiel's Food Forest as a living laboratory that demonstrates the viability of food forests as a nature-based solution, benefiting both local ecosystems and communities around Loch Rannoch. Foster a Nature Positive Scotland by inspiring a student-led movement to establish food forests across universities and local communities, with the Rannoch area as a model. Engage individuals, communities, and businesses within a 50-mile radius of Emiel’s Food Forest in hands-on learning and community-driven environmental stewardship initiatives, focused on the benefits of food forests and sustainable practices. If you’re passionate about contributing to Scotland’s Nature Positive future or want to learn more about our work, please reach out to Tabi direct as they are doing some wonderful things. Today’s #TechnicalTuesday post is on two fronts. 1. The benefit of continuous monitoring and 2. The need for correct lubricates. Remote support is a big part of our business and it shows great value. Just before Christmas we discovered that the readings on a piece of equipment were starting to elevate more than we would have expected. So we started asking some questions and looked into the root cause. We found that the maintenance staff on site had put a different type of grease in the bearing, which had in turn, meant that the readings were starting to rise. The benefit of having this continuous data means that we could catch this issue early, as without catching this at this stage, this bearing condition would have ultimately started to fail due to having the wrong lubricant inside. Monitoring data and having continuous monitoring can be very useful and it’s highly important to make sure you use the right type of grease in bearings, as that specific type of grease is always used for a reason. A great find by our remote monitoring team Harry Jackson Matthew Gibson - well done lads. Jamie Burns Kane Taylor Allana T. Today’s #FeelGoodFriday post is focusing on our kind staff members who volunteered for the day at The Salvation Army in Kilmarnock, the week before Christmas. Assisting those who are pillars in our community was the best way to give back to our community. Seeing the work they do first hand was humbling and educational. Allana T., lorna Westcott and Sharon Robertson packed food parcels and chose gifts for over 150 families who would have otherwise gone without over Christmas. Here’s to an incredible 2025 together – let’s make it one to remember! 🌟 Jamie Burns Kane Taylor Allana T. Todays #technicaltuesday post is about Anti Vibration Mounts. We monitor over 3000 machines per month and around 10% of these will have antivibration mounts of sorts installed on them. We regularly see issues with these mounts similar to the photograph below, where the mounts are found to perish or are damaged which means they cannot perform the task they are designed for. These mounts are very important in the applications they are fitted to as they dampen the vibration that the machine will naturally occur and allow them to run at their optimum performance. Whenever the mounts are worn or damaged, this means there is excess vibrations present that can effect other parts of the equipment or cause surrounding structures to be damaged as a consequence of these failing. These mounts can sometimes be overlooked by maintenance teams as they are just another part of the machine, but they do play a crucial role in ensuring the machine can run efficiently and effectively. For today’s Technical Tuesday post, we had the pleasure of presenting at the Zero Waste Scotland webinar, where we spoke about how using digital technology can help improve the #circulareconomy. Our director Jamie Burns spoke on behalf of the business and demonstrated that by having access to regular or continual data streams you can identify issues before they become a problem. This means that equipment can be repaired at a fraction of the cost, resulting in less need to replace, and therefore helping the circular economy 😉 . Over the last 4 years we have saved clients millions of £££££ in repair and replacement costs. This is done by identifying faults early enough in the process that they can get the equipment repaired rather than it developing into a later stage fault that would require major overhaul or replacement. A lot of the equipment we work with is old and already past its design life, so having accurate data is crucial in keeping these old assets performing during these later stages in their lifecycle. #zerowaste #circular #scotland #industrial
