🪩Foil printing requires multiple steps:🪩 1. 100% black toner is printed over the areas designated for foil application. The black toner is crucial because it’s what the foil adheres to. 2. Foil is applied over the printed black toner areas, using the foil laminator. Heat causes the foil to stick to the toner. 3. Repeat steps one and two as necessary to add different foil colors. To do this, we make sure the prints are properly aligned for multi-color foil designs. 4. Ink is added after foiling by sending the foiled print through the printer again to apply any additional colors or images. 🪩Use the following tips to design your foiled product:🪩 Ensure all foil elements are in vector format to maintain crisp, smooth edges in the final print. Clearly label your layers to keep track of which elements will receive foil. Export your foil and ink layers separately as PDFs to preserve formatting and make it easier to control the foiling and printing processes. #foilprinting #specialtyprinting #smallformatprinting #printfinishing

We recently had the opportunity to scan 558 Massachusetts Avenue, headquarters of the League of Women for Community Service, as part of their restoration process. Its amazing to see the differences in the technologies capturing this location over the last 70ish years - from grayscale photographs on film to 3D renderings. The derivable for this project is a LOD 400 Revit model - so cool to see the details at this level!
