Our Business Manager Hydrogen for Mobility for Northern Europe, Anouck Massant shared insights into our world-scale renewable hydrogen and ammonia projects, and our commitment to decarbonising the maritime industry. Air Products spoke at the Argus Clean Ammonia Conference in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Steve Petridis, Special Advisor to the Chairman, joined the panel titled "The case for ammonia as a fuel in the maritime sector". Among other things, the panel discussed how the industry is preparing for ships to be ready for ammonia bunkering. Steve was joined by Navid Ostadian-Binai, Head of Green Vessels and Fuels at Maersk Tankers, Carl-Antoine Saverys, CEO at Exmar, and Naomi van den Berg, Program Manager Sustainable Transport, Port of Rotterdam. The official start of construction ceremony took place for our Hydrogen Refuelling Station in Meckenheim.  Jörg Hömberg, Managing Director of Air Products GmbH, commented: ‘We are delighted to begin construction of the hydrogen refuelling station in Meckenheim. As the world’s largest hydrogen supplier, we are now one step closer to our goal of providing low-carbon energy for zero-emission fleets. Air Products is developing an interconnected network of hydrogen refuelling stations across the main logistics corridors of the trans-European transport network, which will be key to achieving the network required by the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR).' ‘The construction of the hydrogen refuelling station is designed for two phases. Regionalverkehr Köln GmbH (RVK) and Air Products are planning to commission the first phase in the second quarter of 2025 when refuelling at 350 bar will be possible for RVK's hydrogen buses. Phase 2 will provide access to the refuelling station for the public and 700 bar refuelling for trucks and cars,’ explains Kathryn Wunderle, Business Development Manager Hydrogen for Mobility at Air Products. Air Products participated in the Destination Hydrogen Event at the Rotterdam the Hague Innovation Airport (RHIA), where we showcased our liquid hydrogen tanker. Liquid hydrogen specialist Peter Bout gave an overview of intricate technologies and processes involved in transporting and distributing liquid hydrogen to customers.
