As one of the most active cleantech investors, we are always looking for new ways to support early stage founders as they solve our climate crisis. Thanks to funding from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and Fossil Energy and Carbon Management through their EPIC Prize competition, we are excited to announce the launch of our Carbon Removal Accelerator.
⚡ Introducing our Carbon Removal Cohort⚡
☀ Airbuild Inc (David Gory Jr, MBA, MSCS, BSME, CC, CSM, Richard Mariita, MSc., Ph.D., MBA Candidate and John William Bucur) integrates the photosynthetic ability of microalgae with photovoltaic cells and enables companies and governments to sequester carbon, generate energy, and filter wastewater onsite.
🌊 Aquarry (Kate Murphy, PhD and Spencer Whitman, Ph.D.) applies geochemical carbon removal techniques to flooded abandoned mines, measurably and durably storing CO2 while simultaneously helping to remediate mining influenced water.
🔋 Homeostasis (Makoto Hamamoto Eyre) converts CO2 into battery-grade graphite; creating the most resilient, sustainable, and low-cost supply of the critical material on the planet.
🏭 Mitico (Clément Cid and Léopold Dobelle) supports industrial emitters by developing a seamless point source carbon capture system on-site to reduce emissions and generate carbon credits
🌬 Octavia Carbon (Martin Freimüller and Duncan Kariuki) is the global south's first Direct Air Capture company developing, manufacturing and deploying geothermal-integrated DAC to remove CO2 from the air cost-effectively.
This was a year long effort from our team (Soham Dalal, P.E., Dexter A., Ryan Jeffery, and Audrey Hollis) to recruit some of best carbon removal startups, be chosen as a semi-finalist (Phase 3 application due Q4 2024), and launch our inaugural Carbon Removal Accelerator cohort.
