The biggest opportunities in AI will not be just doing what we already do in software at a lower cost, but instead solving problems that the customer previously didn’t solve because it was too expensive or inefficient to go after before. The far bigger markets will be bringing automation and intelligence to the use-cases that never had them before. The ideal markets will generally be categories where *some* companies could afford to automate or solve the problem in some pockets, but doing so at scale has generally been too expensive or complicated for most customers to tackle. AI lets you bring automation and intelligence to those use-cases for a far wider set of customers. The small business that now has security engineers or contract reviewers for the first time. The marketing team in a large enterprise that wants to deploy their campaign to far more segments and didn’t have the budget. There are near endless areas of businesses that organizations want to make more efficient and produce more, and AI lets you go after that long tail for the first time. Yes, if software was zero sum, then it would be deflationary and bring down the size of markets and overall spend on IT. But, the vast majority of things that could have automation do not yet. That’s why AI will expand and create new markets over time, not shrink them.

  • 💻 AI in Startups -- Turning the web into a database 💻 🚨 Listen to our Post Discussion ⬇️ See link in the comments below ⬇️ A new startup, Exa, is revolutionizing the way we search the web by using the tech behind large language models to create a more organized and precise directory of web pages. This approach, called generative search, aims to transform the chaotic web into a database-like experience. 📝 ➡️ Exa's Approach: Unlike other search engines, Exa doesn't just index keywords but encodes web page contents into embeddings, which are processed by large language models to predict the next link. This method captures the meaning of text, not just keywords. 📊 ➡️ Websets: The first consumer version of Exa's search engine, designed for power users who need specific data sets, such as companies or types of people. For example, searching for "startups making futuristic hardware" yields a list of specific companies. 🏢 ➡️ Challenges: The process is slow and expensive, with only about a billion web pages encoded compared to Google's trillion-indexed pages. However, Exa's CEO, Will Bryk, believes this is not a significant issue since you don't need to embed the whole web to be useful. 📝 📚 Source: MIT Technology Review #AI #Data #ArtificialIntelligence #Innovation #Technology #Business #Future #Futurism #searchengine #generativesearch #Exa #Websets #database #chaos #organization #languagemodels
