    We announced it at the AITX meetup last week, but excited to share publicly that we've partnered with Meta to host the Llama Impact Hackathon next month here in Austin! 🤖🎉 This is our second Hackathon and we're really excited to bring the community together to build new AI applications using Meta's Llama models, alongside many of the best developers across Austin's tech ecosystem. 🤝 Winning teams will receive cash prizes as well as additional prizes to kickstart their projects. AND very excited to share that this event qualifies participants to submit their projects to the new Llama Impact Grant program.     Awesome kickoff to the Austin AI Community Hackathon last night! We hosted a team building session, recapped rules and prizes, and got pumped for a weekend of building. My favorite part was hearing from some of the Local AI Infrastructure companies we partnered with on the "Best Local Hack" prize. This prize will go to the best submission built on top of infrastructure from local AI startups. Participating companies include: 🧠 Memary - Julian Saks - Longterm memory and self learning for autonomous agents 🔊 Sindarin - Conversational Speech AI - Brian Atwood - Ultra-low latency human-like voice infra 📊 TensorStax - Aria Attar - Autonomous agents for data and MLOps tasks Really excited to see this come to life and it's been a pleasure for AITX to work with Austin AI Tinkerers.     Want to know what's happening in Austin's buzzing AI community? Here are 3 key things to know: 1) The AI revolution is transforming healthcare across Texas. The UT System, powered by $4 billion in research funding and the fastest academic supercomputer at UT Austin, is at the forefront of developing AI solutions to tackle our toughest health challenges. Cross-institution collaboration is critical for advancing AI-enabled tools and positioning Texas as an AI workforce leader. 2) Austin is taking the lead in responsible AI governance. The city established clear guidelines for employees using generative AI for city business. An advisory committee was formed to encourage collaboration, mitigate risks, and ensure transparency and accountability as AI usage scales. Over 300 employees have already been trained on the new AI standards. 3) Elon Musk is making waves in the AI chip market. Emails reveal he prioritized sending 12,000 H100 GPUs to his X and xAI ventures over Tesla, leading to delays and over $500M in missed shipments. This has raised questions about Musk's ability to balance his obligations to Tesla with his other attention-heavy ventures. The great chip redirection of 2023 will have ripple effects. The age of AI is upon us, and Austin is poised to play a leading role. By prioritizing responsible innovation, governance, and talent development, our city and state can harness AI's potential to solve major challenges and drive progress. The future is bright!
