A few days ago, a host of remarkable researchers, artists, leaders, and activists, including AJL’s founder Dr. Joy Buolamwini gathered together in the living room of the iconic journalist and feminist leader Gloria Steinem. This collaborative Talking Circle addressed urgent questions about the representation of women and non-binary people in AI and the encoding of gender discrimination in AI systems. Each participant brought their unique perspective and stories to the group, united by a shared hope to harness the power of AI in the fight for gender equality. 💪🏾 Thank you to Gloria for hosting and to all the attendees for their wisdom and role in shaping these technologies! ⚠️ The NFL is using facial recognition technology (FRT) at all 32 teams' stadiums to verify the identity of staff, vendors, and media. This puts the sensitive biometric data of thousands of people at risk. The use of FRT in the workplace creates a surveillance culture; the NFL can watch workers’ every move. It also puts workers’ sensitive data at risk of privacy violations. The workers' biometric information is stored in massive databases that are susceptible to hackers. But unlike a credit card number, you can’t change your face if it’s stolen... Like Fight for the Future, we believe ethical AI is about consent and choice, but NFL workers have been denied the option to protect their precious face data. Will it be your workplace next? Sign the petition to make a stand for employee privacy today! ✊🏽 📢 SIGN HERE: fftf.link/nfl-frt
