Sometimes the mission you are hoping to achieve is bigger than competition. Several years back, we launched our financial literacy simulation and worked to get it integrated across schools in Alabama. - We fully funded the program and offered it to schools free of charge with volunteers provided! - We formed adaptations of the program to accommodate schools of the visually impaired and deaf. - We hosted principal summits and leadership workshops to explain the program in hopes of being welcomed into more schools. - We partnered with local leadership programs and governments to encourage the inclusion of financial literacy in schools. Now, we've begun to see a lot more financial institutions across the state offer the same program. Which is where my first point came in, remembering the mission of it all! It’s not about being the one to service everyone, it’s about doing the groundwork to take the first step; therefore, encouraging other businesses to do the same. At the end of the day, our goal is being achieved-- more children in Alabama are learning financial literacy-- and that’s something to celebrate!!!

Congratulations to our 2024 Scholarship Recipient, Kirsen! Kirsen is a Birmingham native who is working on her Masters of Science in Education at Jacksonville State University. She plans on teaching in Jacksonville post graduation after falling in love with the area while student teaching. She received her undergraduate degree from JSU where she was a student athlete for track and field. @jsugamecocks Kirsen has been a member with AlaTrust for over 5 years! We are so excited to be able to support her education and know that she will do great things for future students in Jacksonville!
