Innovative Solutions in the Plastics Industry

About us

ALBA sells IMM-dedicated hydraulic cylinders from Vega, micro-injection molding machines from Babyplast, and, of course, ALBA Quick Release Knockout Couplers, as well as other selected mold components. In December of 2013 ALBA was acquired by John M. Dineen, an executive with a 20-year track record of success in business. In November 2018 ALBA merged operations with ROI Rich Oles Industries. As a result of the merger Rich Oles (a 35 year plastics industry veteran) became equity partner, President and CEO. Together Mr. Oles and Mr. Dineen have dedicated themselves to building on the solid foundation already in place to make ALBA of even greater value to its customers. Started out this morning at 5am cst, traveling from Minneapolis MN. I made my way to Denver CO. I am now am in another airplane, heading to Montrose CO! It was a great week in the Minneapolis area, and it was really good to speak with some top quality local mold makers this week while I working with our clients! We are looking forward to working with them in the future! We will be back to the area soon enough!

  • How many of us in the plastic injection molding world don't take the time to consider the basics of thermal dynamics? For this post we are focused on the energy source, and how the energy migrates from the source into the mass being heated. Just the basics of the heating sources used in a hot runner manifold, and Hot runner nozzle assembly for this post. Injection molding is a series of thermal dynamic events. Hot Runner Manifold systems are used to move molten plastic from one point (the injection molding machine) into specific points (within the cavity area called injection points). But first we must control the overall system temperature, so we have uniform temp of the molten resin. We use terms like: Watt to mass ratio, wattage distribution, direct energy transfer, indirect energy transfer, diffused energy (brass sleeve), reflection tube, heat sink, heat shedding, conduction, radiation, convection and steady thermal state. Here is the description of the image below: A) Contact point of heating element, and mass being heated (direct or in-direct energy transfer). Note: All energy moves from hot (heat source) to cold (mass being heated to desired temperature). No exception. B) Indirect heating: Brass sleeve used to distribute wattage (energy). You will notice when in a sleeve, we increase the contact point (A). *Depending on the heater shape, you can increase, or decrease the contact surface, or points. C) A planned gap between the heating element (indirect, with brass sleeve) and the mass being heated. Normally a fit something like H7/g6 (sliding fit) and this is one example. Note: As the heater sleeve heats quickly, thermal expansion increases the gap. At lest until the mass temperature catches up to the sleeve temperature. D) Reflection tube: The reflection tube redirects ("reflects" radiating energy from the heating element back into the heater sleeve or the mass being heated (via direct or indirect energy transfer). At the same time, the reflection tube reduces the amount of energy allowed to radiate off the heated mass into the surrounding mass (normally a plastic injection mold). E). Filler, heat transfer paste (magnesium) or can be vacuum brazing as another example. This increases the contact surface area of the heating element to the mass being heated. In teh case of vacuum brazing it also can be a method of securing the heating element into the mass to improve efficient energy transfer, prevent damage to the heating element, and mechanically secure the heater into the mass being heated. John Bozzelli brought these personalized can covers with to our dinner during NPE 2024. Someone, who had taken John’s course years ago, shared it changed their life (something we hear about often regarding John Bozzelli). This person made these can savers (snaps on a cola can for example) and they have John’s infamous sayingg and a likeness of John. John didn’t get a card, or contact details from the creator. So if you are, or know the person who created these please contact me, so we can connect you with John again. I especially like the “significant emotional experience” one, but “Krusty” is also mentioned as well. Flying from Montrose CO to Denver CO now, which is the end of a 3-week trip visiting customers in CO, MA, and PA. I also had the pleasure of being re-introduced to some pretty awesome suppliers as well. One of which is Eden Manufacturing Inc and Eden Tool Company , via David Tomic . If your interested in high tech, tenth capable manufacturing and clean room molding capabilities give Dave a call. You can also catch him speaking at the Makino tech talk at the NPE 2024 event in Orlando Florida during the week of May 6-10. You should also check out the daily tech talks at the Regloplas AG booth, with John Bozzelli! Always something to learn if you are willing! We will be there all week as well. Reach out if you would like to meet at one of our partner company booths to discuss your application needs! Shout out to United Airlines: your our preferred airline, so please keep improving the Denver hub! Those efficiencies, and added services are greatly appreciated by those of us who need to travel to our clients needs to help! Michael Dalrymple Lisa Oles Bill Hartwick

If you want to digest some valuable information check out this Plastics Technology article about “The best of John Bozzelli”. If you know who “Krusty” is, you’ve been to a John Bozzelli seminar! I just realized I assumed You spell Krusty with a ‘K’ because of the character John portrays! Thanks Gardner Business Media, Inc. And Tony Deligio for making this article possible. Also a big thank you to John Bozzelli for making all of this possible by providing content in the first place. Bill Hartwick Lisa Oles Michael Dalrymple
