Topic: IME’s - Do’s and Don’ts Presenter: Dr Roger Hodkinson with Western Medical Assessments Dr. Hodkinson is a medical specialist in pathology, a graduate of Cambridge University, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Throughout his career, he has held leadership roles in Canadian medicine both provincially and nationally. This includes being an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Alberta, Chairman of the Royal College General Pathology Examination Committee, President of the Alberta Society of Laboratory Physicians, and CEO of community-based medical laboratories in Alberta, Michigan, and California, offering full menus of routine testing, including molecular diagnostics. Currently, he has two major professional roles. He is Chairman of Western Medical Assessments Corporation, the oldest medical assessment company in Alberta, and Chairman of a late-stage American biotechnology company active in DNA sequencing. Dr. Hodkinson will cover: -The purpose of IMEs: Ruling out/in disease, diagnosis, causation, impairment, prognosis, and more. -Choosing the right expert: specialties, service providers, and considerations. -The IME process: document reviews, examinations, reports, and ensuring quality. -Key elements: causation, recommendations, credibility, caveats, and reality checks.
