The Alectra Green Energy & Technology (GRE&T) Centre makes energy innovations come to life. With a focus on innovation, green energy, and new technology, the GRE&T Centre is an innovation hub that kick starts the adoption of clean technology by identifying, evaluating, developing and accelerating emerging, clean and customer-friendly energy solutions. A fundamental shift is underway in the global energy sector—a shift that is causing governments to revisit energy policy, regulators to re-evaluate current regulation, and utilities to re-assess everything from service delivery to capital investments for energy infrastructure. We are thrilled to announce that Geri Yin has been appointed as the new Vice President of the Alectra GRE&T Centre, succeeding Neetika Sathe, the GRE&T Centre’s inaugural VP. With over two decades of experience in the electricity sector, Geri has been at the forefront of Alectra’s efforts in utilities transformation to the grid of future. Geri has been instrumental in delivering the GRE&T Centre’s groundbreaking initiatives, such as the IESO York Region Non-Wires Alternatives Demonstration Project, North America’s first distribution-level local electricity market. Under her leadership, the GRE&T Centre also pioneered Canada’s first end-to-end integrated household GHG solution and a transactive energy platform, developed and piloted by a utility. Her ability to forge strategic partnerships and collaborations within the industry has been pivotal in advancing our vision of a sustainable energy future. Geri has been recognized for her expertise in utilities business model transformation, grid innovation, business development, regulatory affairs, and strategic planning, and she is a proud holder of the 2024 Canada's Clean50 Award.
