Fighting childhood cancer, one cup at a time.
About us
Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) emerged from the front yard lemonade stand of 4-year-old Alexandra “Alex” Scott, who was fighting cancer and wanted to raise money to find cures for all children with cancer. Her spirit and determination inspired others to support her cause, and when she passed away at the age of 8, she had raised $1 million. Since then, the Foundation bearing her name has evolved into a national fundraising movement. Today, ALSF is one of the leading funders of pediatric cancer research in the U.S. and Canada raising more than $250 million so far, funding over 1,000 research projects and providing programs to families affected by childhood cancer. We love sharing good news! 💕 Childhood cancer hero Arden remains No Evidence of Disease (NED) after her routine follow-up! Arden was diagnosed with neuroblastoma at 16 months old. After testing to confirm Arden had high-risk neuroblastoma with the ALK mutation, she was qualified to start a clinical trial available at CHOP, led by ALSF-funded researcher Dr. Yael Mosse. And it worked. Arden's treatment lasted more than three years. She completed the trial drug, lorlatinib, in May 2023. Now, Arden is living her best life thanks to research! She's a kindergartner, who loves math, ballet, jazz dance, and talks about being a scientist one day, just like Dr. Mosse. You can continue to help kids like Arden by donating to ALSF today>https://lnkd.in/epXZPwAG

SAVE THE DATE: Alex’s “Original” Lemonade Stand is May 31🍋 Join us for a day of family-friendly fundraising to honor the legacy of our founder, Alex Scott. This year is extra special: we’re celebrating 25 years since Alex held her very first lemonade stand! Alex was just 4 years old when she held her first stand, which eventually sparked an annual tradition to raise money for kids just like her. Although Alex is no longer here to host it with us, we continue the legacy of her stand with Alex’s “Original” held at her old school, Penn Wynne Elementary. Learn more>https://lnkd.in/eWyPk_fR

This week's featured childhood cancer hero is Lauren O’Malley! Lauren is a bright, strong and mature young woman. At 7 years old, Lauren was diagnosed with an inoperable, low-grade glioma in the center of her brain and on her optic nerve. After chemotherapy, she enrolled in a clinical trial with ALSF-funded oncologist, Dr Angela Waanders. Her tumor was stable for years, but the battle wasn’t over. Lauren then went on an MEK inhibitor drug to reduce her tumor and improve her vision, but it began growing back in 2022. Thankfully, a newly approved cell inhibitor drug reduced her tumor in size again! Today, Lauren is at West Chester University, pursuing a degree in nursing so she can help other kids with cancer.
