Four noteworthy items from our time at Cisco Live in Amsterdam. Thanks to our partners and friends at Natilik for capturing this conversation! 1. "The reality is this, our customers need to make applications communicate end to end. And it's not just in the data center anymore. It's not just within their data center fabrics across a couple of firewalls. All of that connectivity is stretching well out into the cloud and in some cases beyond the campus and we really want to be able to have that stretch across all those different environments." 2. "Horizon is our overarching platform; that's comprised of our AlgoSec Security Management Suite (ASMS) and ACE is a separate suite within that platform, and that's really what it gives us that reachability, our expansion into the cloud. We really focus on the network, which everyone knows AlgoSec for, but in the cloud, we secure beyond the network." 3. "Our relationship with Cisco has been tremendous. That relationship was born in the data center in ACI was still very strong there. We see a lot of policy automation, a lot of simplifying the complexity that comes with the complex data center fabric and everything around it. We're continuing to work with them, across the Cisco firewalling technologies now with Cisco Meraki. So, we're expanding well out into everywhere Cisco needs to go." "A lot of customers come to us and their first ask is simply automation and when we aim to deliver what that is intelligent automation. We don't just want to help you do things faster, we want to use what we know about the network and help you make those decisions not only faster but more efficiently reduce risks along the way in those complex multi-vendor environments."

According to the 2023 MOVEit data breach investigation, as detailed in The Worst Hacks of 2024 (Wired, 2024) and other industry analyses, vulnerabilities in business applications played a critical role in enabling widespread data compromises. The breach affected nearly 100 million individuals and thousands of organizations, highlighting the inadequacy of static compliance frameworks. While these organizations passed their audits, their static compliance frameworks couldn’t keep up with the speed, complexity, and interdependencies of modern application environments. Static compliance, focused on meeting regulatory checklists, may look good on paper but often fails in practice, leaving organizations exposed to risk and reputational damage.

The demands on cloud security professionals are skyrocketing. You're expected to be a master of hybrid environments, navigate a widening skills gap, and stay ahead of threats evolving at warp speed. Let's break down the challenges: Hybrid is the new normal: This means juggling the complexities of both on-premises and cloud security, demanding a broader skillset and a more holistic approach. The skills gap is a chasm: This talent shortage puts immense pressure on existing security professionals to do more with less. Threats are evolving faster than ever: The cloud introduces new attack vectors and vulnerabilities we haven't even imagined yet. Bottomline, it's getting harder and harder to keep track of all your cloud assets. Traditional tools often fall short, leaving potential security vulnerabilities exposed and your business at risk. So, how can you thrive in this chaotic environment? We've listed four easy ways you can handle network security complexities in 2025.

It's January 2025; that means two things: 1. New year, new you. 2. New year, new regulation requirements. The deadline for financial firms and third-party ICT providers to be in compliance with DORA is past. The penalties for non-compliance could be up to 2% of annual turnover, and repeated breaches could result in even higher sanctions or operational restrictions. Additionally, firms face reputational risks if they fail to meet incident reporting and recovery expectations. Yikes! So why are we polling about firewall recertification? Several of DORA's broader requirements apply to the management and oversight of firewall rules and the overall security infrastructure, which would include periodic firewall rule recertification as part of maintaining a robust security posture. And luckily there's a way your organization can stay DORA compliant, maintain automatic firewall recertification and not have to give of the below options up. We've got the tools necessary to help your org comply with DORA and other regulatory requirements while streamlining ongoing risk management and security operations. Check out our latest blog helping you understand how to stay DORA compliant: https://lnkd.in/diYyQyWT
