𝗔 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲: 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗶 𝗥𝗮𝘆𝗮 𝗔𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗹𝗳𝗶𝘁𝗿𝗶 As the crescent moon rises, marking the end of Ramadan today, the Muslim community welcomes Hari Raya Aidilfitri tomorrow, a day of joy, reflection, and kinship. This significant festival not only signifies the conclusion of a month dedicated to fasting, prayer, and reflection but also serves as a reminder of the values of patience, compassion, and giving. However, as we prepare to celebrate, it's essential to remember that not everyone is afforded peace and serenity. In places like Gaza, the shadows of conflict cast a long pall, affecting innocent lives and disrupting the joyous celebrations of Eid. Such realities remind us of the importance of empathy, understanding, and the urgent need for peace across all corners of the globe. Even in Singapore, we should not take our peace for granted. Whether Chinese, Muslims, Indians or other races, we must not let the past racial riots destabilise our peace and harmony. Amidst the festivities, it's also crucial to address the widespread misconceptions about Islam and its followers. Stereotypes and misinformation have led to undue suspicion and alienation, overshadowing the true teachings of Islam - peace, compassion, and mutual respect. Eid offers a moment for us all, regardless of our backgrounds, to reflect on these misunderstandings and strive towards a world where diversity is not just tolerated but celebrated. As we come together to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri, let us also commit to breaking down the barriers of ignorance and prejudice. Let's take this opportunity to learn about each other's cultures and beliefs, fostering a more inclusive and harmonious world. To all celebrating, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. May your days be filled with joy, peace, and the warmth of community. And to everyone, may we all find the strength to build bridges of understanding and compassion. #NotTheUsualMentor #racialharmony #celebratediversity
