Day 22/38 of running 1600 km across Pakistan 🇵🇰 to fundraise $1 million to help The Citizens Foundation educate 7000 out of school kids. Today had by far the most amount of missteps and delays. Our miscommunication with the local hosts last night led to an unexpected 4-hour detour (2 hours on either side), eating into valuable time that could have been spent resting and recovering. A late start to the day didn’t help, though the first 10 miles were strong and felt solid. I made a mistake by taking a break around noon. That 30 min break turned into a 90 min lull. The fatigue from lack of sleep crept back in, and I never quite regained my momentum after that. Every time I built some rhythm, there was an interruption—media, locals eager for a photo, or even a bathroom break for the support vehicle’s pilot. Due to security concerns, we have been advised to finish early and wrap up by 5:00 pm, but we pushed that by an extra half hour, finishing at 5:30 pm. We managed 35 km today, instead of the planned 45, but we’re still ahead of schedule, so the delay didn’t set us back too much. Running through Zahir Pir was an absolute delight. The scenery was breathtaking—lush green fields on both sides, lambs grazing peacefully in the open, and the occasional glimpse of the desert. It was a beautiful reminder of my selfish reason of doing this which is to explore my country. I wear my AlixPartners T-shirt with pride, feeling fortunate to be part of a team that supports personal endeavors beyond the workplace. Last week, our Tech, Media, and Telecommunications practice held its inaugural Emerging Leaders Forum in New York. Many new and familiar faces gathered to hear an engaged panel that included Cielo's Marissa Geist, IBM's Salima Lin, and AlixPartners' Reggie Van Lee, discussing the future of work and leadership in the age of AI. A very big thank you to this inspiring group of panelists—and their excellent book recommendations! #EmergingLeadersForum #TMT #WhenItReallyMatters

Growing up in Michigan, Brian Paluk, AlixPartners’ Head of People Operations, is a lifelong Detroit Tigers fan. But in the recently concluded World Series, Brian had reason to celebrate the Los Angeles Dodgers’ victory over the New York Yankees.   That is because in the late 90s, Brian was a pitcher for three Dodgers minor league affiliates—the Yakima Bears, the Savannah Sand Gnats, and the Vero Beach Dodgers.   While it has been 25 years since he hung up his spikes, the lessons learned on the playing field still resonate today. Flip through to see how his professional sports experience has helped propel his career.

AlixPartners is delighted to have partnered once again with The Sunday Times for its Annual Business Party. This event is without doubt the highlight of UK PLCs’ year-end social calendar. It is testament to the enduring strength of The Sunday Times brand and the quality of its journalism that it attracts such a high-quality cohort of business leaders year on year. We live in uncertain and disrupted times but, as our CEO Simon Freakley said in his opening address, the UK has some of the best businesses and business leaders in the world. For that reason, as we look to 2025 and beyond, the UK has the opportunity to continue to make an outsized contribution on the global stage.
