  • “Unforgettable days always start in normal ways.” That’s what I told Olivia, the founder and CEO of a sustainable beauty startup, during our first meeting. We were cozily seated in her company’s light-filled studio, surrounded by shelves of meticulously crafted skincare, fragrances and haircare products. The scent was calming, but Olivia wasn’t calm herself. “We’re growing so fast,” she said, “but sometimes it feels like we’re losing control—like I’m holding on with both hands, and the ride’s still shaky.” Olivia had built a brand that resonated with conscious consumers, but the company’s rapid growth had outpaced its structure. Decisions were made on the fly, priorities shifted daily and the team was stretched thin. “I know we’re doing a lot,” she added, “but are we doing the right things?” This is a common challenge for companies transitioning from scrappy beginnings to scalable growth. What works with a small team of generalists often breaks down as the organization grows. To help Olivia regain control, we focused on three essential pillars for the new year https://lnkd.in/ewcQAKaf #coaching #mentoring #success

  • The human brain is a learning machine, built for progress. That thing you’re struggling with right now? It’s just another step in the process. Mastery isn’t about being naturally gifted; it’s about sticking with it, making mistakes, and getting better every day. Every skill you have today was once something you couldn’t do. So, what skill will you conquer next? #coaching #mentoring #success

  • We talk a lot about attention. But a useful reminder never hurts. Your life is bought and paid for by where you spend your attention. Attention isn’t just a resource—it’s your most valuable currency. Every moment you focus on the trivial, the fleeting, or the meaningless, you’re making a trade-off. The price? The life you could have built with focus, intention, and clarity. So, where are you spending your attention—and is it worth the cost? #coaching #mentoring #success

  • "When you step into negotiations, do you feel in control, or are you just responding to what they throw at you?" I asked my client Isaac, a general partner at a newly formed venture capital fund. We met at his firm’s minimalist office, which featured a sculpture by a well-known artist and walls lined with ambitious goals scribbled in bold marker—a fitting backdrop for a man who was always in high gear. Isaac had built a reputation as a keen strategist, yet he found himself feeling reactive in high-stakes negotiations with potential portfolio companies. "I know what we’re looking for," he explained, "but sometimes it feels like I’m just scrambling to address whatever they throw my way." Isaac’s problem wasn’t a lack of vision; it was the need for a sharper edge—a strategic framework to keep him on the front foot rather than managing demands as they came up. As we decrypted Isaac’s challenges, I shared three principles that would empower him to lead negotiations with confidence and control—strategies that any leader can adopt to gain the upper hand without the fight https://lnkd.in/ewQQC__H #coaching #mentoring #success

  • When you’re authentically yourself, here’s the deal: you’ll face judgment, criticism, and yes, you’ll disappoint people. But that’s the price of being real. Living as a dynamic, fully individualized human means you’re not trying to fit everyone’s expectations—and that’s exactly what makes you impactful. The alternative? Shrinking yourself into a version that pleases everyone but fulfills no one, least of all you. So, which path are you on now, authenticity or approval? #coaching #mentoring #success

  • Steven was the founder and CEO of a fast-growing consumer tech startup. At first glance, everything looked like it was falling into place—he was ambitious, sharp and had built a solid reputation in his industry. But an attentive eye would notice the cracks. When I first met Steven, introduced by his lead investor, he looked worn out and defeated. He was sitting in an office that mirrored his state of mind—scattered, chewed-up stationery left in disarray all over. “I feel like my leadership just isn’t landing anymore,” he admitted. “What do I do now?” Steven’s story isn’t one of a kind. Many leaders face similar challenges, where despite their talent and effort, something just isn’t clicking with their teams. Mistakenly, they believe they need to communicate more while they actually need to communicate smarter, with intention, clarity and empathy. Here are seven powerful techniques that helped Steven transform his leadership—and how they can do the same for you https://lnkd.in/eEpMnTbD #coaching #mentoring #impact

  • "Ever wonder why your team doesn’t follow through on your requests?" I asked Elizabeth, a CEO and co-founder of a fast-growing edtech startup, during our first meeting. And wonder she did. She felt stuck in a cycle of setting clear expectations only to see them ignored. We met at her startup’s office in Seattle. After Elizabeth shook my hand, she immediately started explaining herself to a team member. Then she turned to another, repeating almost the same instructions. Despite her drive and clear communication, Elizabeth was growing tired and frustrated. She had established rules around meeting schedules, response times and feedback protocols, but her team kept disregarding them. The real problem? Elizabeth was making requests, indeed, but she was not setting clear boundaries. The Misconception: Requests Aren’t Boundaries https://lnkd.in/egyMxkpJ #coaching #mentoring #boundaries

  • It’s almost impressive how fast some humans retreat when you refuse to be used. But here’s the upside: their exit is your clarity. It frees up space for real connections and saves your energy for those who value you, not just what you can do for them but who you are as a human being. So, let them go without a second thought. You’re better off without that kind of noise. When was the last time you felt relief when a user showed themselves the door? #coaching #mentoring #success
