About us

Allegany Franciscan Ministries is a non-profit Catholic organization that seeks to improve the overall health of individuals by increasing access to health services and building healthier communities. Allegany Franciscan Ministries grew out of the health care ministries of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany, New York, and is a member of Trinity Health. It provides grants and works collaboratively with others primarily in the three regions of Florida formerly served by the Sisters’ hospitals: Miami-Dade County, Palm Beach, Martin and St. Lucie Counties, and the Tampa Bay area of Hillsborough and Pinellas Counties. Since awarding its first grant in 1998, Allegany Franciscan Ministries has invested more than $108 million awarding almost 5,000 grants to 1,728 organizations serving those most in need in the communities it serves. Its annual grantmaking budget averages about $6 million. Allegany Franciscan Ministries’ staff and volunteers collaborate with community partners and other funders to create healthier, safer, and more connected places where the most vulnerable residents can live, learn, work and play.

  • Today, we pause in gratitude in remembrance of the brave men and women who have served in our nation's armed forces. As we celebrate Veterans Day, Allegany Franciscan Ministries honors the selflessness and courage of those who have sacrificed so much to protect our freedoms. Guided by our Catholic faith, we recognize in our veterans a profound example of service and commitment, embodying the love that Jesus calls us to show one another. In the spirit of peace and healing, we lift up all veterans and their families in prayer, asking God to bless them abundantly. May they find comfort in His love, strength in their faith, and support within their communities. Today, let us take time to reach out to a veteran, listen to their stories, and offer a moment of thanks. 🙏🏽 🇱🇷 #Afmfl #Alleganyfranciscanministries #community #veteransday

  • ✨Today is the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, a day that celebrates a life of humility, love, and care for all creation.✨ St. Francis is remembered for his deep connection to God and his profound love for every living thing—humans, animals, and nature. He embraced a simple life of service and taught us that through compassion and kindness, we reflect God’s love to the world. This day is a powerful reminder to care for each other, to serve those in need, find beauty in the world around us, and be stewards of peace. 💚 On this Feast of St. Francis, let us reflect on how we can follow his example—by living simply, loving fully, and being voices of care and respect for all of creation. May his spirit inspire our actions today and always. 🙏🏽 Wishing you a blessed Feast of St. Francis from all of us at Allegany Franciscan Ministries! ✨ #FeastOfStFrancis #PeaceAndGood #FranciscanValues
