We have been proud to partner with Jessica Schleider, PhD's team at Northwestern University's Lab for Scalable Mental Health as well as the research team Instructure to build evidence for our preventative mental health support platform. And we are not stopping here as we continue to move along the ESSA continuum given the extraordinary results we are seeing! Stay tuned for updates about the research that is underway this school year as we move towards Level 2, but for now, join us in celebrating this big milestone! 👏 💥 https://lnkd.in/gz6SUNHk

Alongside reposted this
Dr. Stephen Schueller brings up an incredibly valid concern that chatbots will prohibit youth from seeking out in-person support. But what if we built chatbots to be a stepping stone to reaching out? Our data at Alongside of tens of thousands of students suggests only 1% of students will write their own message to a school counselor but over 37% are willing to share with a counselor after a chatting with Kiwi (our chatbot). Why? Well the majority of feedback we have from students is A) they simply didn't know how to put it into words what they were dealing with or B) seeing that the chatbot didn't judge them helped them feel more comfortable and less scared to share! Want more insights like this? Check out our free youth mental health report! https://lnkd.in/esEK_d_u #data #youthMentalHealth #AIforGood
“My biggest concern is that kids may disclose things to the chatbot but not open up to anyone else” - UC Irvine psychological science Professor Stephen Schueller, in The Wall Street Journal story, "Kids Turn to a Mental-Health Chatbot to Share Their Anxieties." tinyurl.com/2fvf4d6x

Students aren’t just our users—they’re the ones shaping our mission. Every piece of feedback is a reminder of why we do what we do. ➡️ "I liked that Kiwi is so nice… I don't often have conversations where I can just say everything I think." ➡️ "Your advice seems very helpful, and you actually seem to be listening to me. You can follow along with my issues and are actually interested in helping." ➡️ "I liked being able to vent then be given solutions to help with my problem." ➡️ "I like how you helped me figure out ways to calm myself and anxiety." These voices remind us of the importance of creating a space where students feel safe, heard, and supported. #EdTech #MentalHealthMatters #EmpowerYouth
