  • Risk Intelligence Brief for Super Bowl Security New Orleans police will work alongside 2,000 federal agents, 350 National Guard troops, and police and sheriff deputies from surrounding parishes to provide security for the event. National Guard soldiers plan to operate armored checkpoints, bag searches, and a prohibition on ice chests. In addition, authorities plan to permit concealed weapons within the security perimeter and declared the Caesars Superdome and much of the downtown area as a "no-drone zone" for the event. Reports also indicate Secret Service presence as President Trump has announced he will attend the game. Terrorists continue to target open-access events, mass gatherings, as well as the open perimeters of secured events, due to perceived lack of security and publicized schedules. Security measures now vary widely based on event characteristics and available resources. Events of different complexities now require tailored plans to incorporate known and unknown threat levels. Public and private personnel (ALL event planners) must develop, assess, and implement security recommendations that take into consideration the most common tactics used to target open-access events. Planning must be highly coordinated and exercised. Quoting Thomas Jefferson, 'Eternal Vigilance is the price of liberty". This is apt in the context of the world we live in. Eternal vigilance from everyone is key to keeping society and events like the Super Bowl secure. Various law enforcement agencies involved in securing the event stated there are no credible threats against the Super Bowl LIX. Yet given the geopolitical tensions and domestic divisions within communities, popular events like the Super Bowl could be perceived as avenues for protests, violence, and terrorist plots. Monitored chats on various public and private media have unearthed calls for violence in retaliation to the conflict in the Middle East and other parts of the world. One such poster read: "To the Mujahidin in the Heart of Euope and America..." Another poster in English and German was titled "Who are you to Hunt US? We are coming to Slaughter You". These posters published this month reveal the propaganda of Foreign terrorist organizations to incite domestic extremist groups to commit heinous acts. We at Alpha Recon take this to heart and have tools in place to feed real-time intelligence to the private security and executive protection firms involved. We stand with them as their critical task of keeping principals and regions safe from malicious acts requires eternal vigilance built on a foundation of risk intelligence technology and their own well trained experts. We hope you enjoy the game, and stay secure!
